Most skincare lines promise brilliance. I promise some confidence. But this claims to do something a little different. It supports your skin, your mood, and perhaps even your love life. On this episode of the Beauty Bureau, we sat down with dermatologist Sabrina Fabi, Maryland in San Diego, California, to talk about Xomd, a skincare line she co-created with her husband, facial plastic surgeon Stephen Dayan. With clinical experience, doctors adopted decades of research on attractiveness and confidence, and poured it into a concept called Moodias. Skincare products are designed to not only look good, but also to be more attractive and connected.
“We’ve always thought of skincare as a way to improve people’s appearance,” says Dr. Fabi. “But people want to feel good. That’s really the ultimate goal. If you can put things on your skin that affect your feelings, especially those that affect how you feel with your skin,” and yes, there’s the clinical proof that it works.
Skin care starting from the brain
Dr. Fabi shares that the heroes of the Line are unique blends called Oxfactor, a combination of jasmine extracts, phytopeptides and phospholipids that mimic the effects of oxytocin.
“Oxytocin has receptors throughout the skin, including fibroblasts, and the same cells that produce collagen and elastin,” explains Dr. Fabi. “We’re not trying to change your face. We support biology that helps you show up with more presence and more confidence.”
Idea: If oxytocin allows you to feel more relaxed, emotionally connected, and even radiant when you fall in love, why can’t we replicate it in our skincare routines?
Proves brilliance
To test the concept, Dr. Fabi says the XOMD team wasn’t just testing hydration and tone. They performed the same type of double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial used in medical grade studies. Participants were given a placebo version that felt like they were OX factor-equipped products or identical but was actively missing. “In four weeks, we saw statistically significant improvements in skin glow, uniformity and reductions in redness. But what’s even more exciting is what happened in eight weeks that caused people to report higher confidence and were perceived as younger.” When blinded third-party reviewers were shown before and after photos, they estimated that Xomd participants would appear to be three years younger, she continues to explain.
Is it even more remarkable? 86% of participants felt more confident, with 90% reporting improved sexual satisfaction in almost all categories where 90% were tracked. “When you feel confident in your skin, your connections with others change,” says Dr. Fabi. “That’s what oxytocin does, and it improves your presence, and it makes someone attractive.”
Speed Dating Trial
To test the actual impact, the team hosted a speed dating event. Some participants used XOMD in their evening lead-up. Others didn’t. A couple left together? Both were at Xomd. “We weren’t trying to create a date hack,” says Dr. Fabi. “But there’s something powerful about stepping into a room that already feels like the best version of yourself.”
Routine (and where to start)
If you’re wondering which product to try first, she points out drunk serum ($188) as the best entry point. “It supplies active ingredients and keeps you hydrated beautifully. If your skin is dry or reactive, the layer of Anose Moisturizer ($155) exceeds it very well without feeling greasy.”
There is also a cleanser and detox ($48). This is formulated to prepare without removing the skin, allowing the OX factor to be absorbed more effectively. “A lot of people are chasing the outcome, so it still makes you feel empty. We wanted to create something that would help you feel better while you’re there.”
And if you’re wondering if it actually works, Dr. Fabi is clear: in this case, in many more cases, you’ll want to follow clinical trials and use cleansers, moisturizers, serum. “We need more love,” she says. “More connections. There are more ways to feel better with your skin.”
