Aesthetic trends may come and go, but “Baby Botox” stays here. “Baby Botox,” often used as a way to prevent and prevent wrinkles before they form, has become a popular option for young patients who try to stop aging before it begins. Despite the low dose, experts say certain facial areas can have the greatest impact.
What is Baby Botox?
“Baby Botox is not really a new idea,” says Sean Simon, MD, Miami plastic surgeon. Using a lower dose creates an effect that appears to be less, more natural. However, this is nothing new for experienced injectors. It is called adjusting techniques to achieve specific outcomes to meet a patient’s specific goals and needs. ”
The main difference between this approach and traditional neurotoxin injections comes with the amount of product used and how deeply it is injected.
“Baby Botox,” or intradermal Botox is a technique in which Botox is injected in very small, diluted amounts into the surface layer of the skin, not deep in the muscle,” explains New York plastic surgeon B. Aviva Preminger, MD. “On the other hand, traditional Botox targets muscle movement deep into the face to reduce wrinkles.”
Rather than directly reducing wrinkles, this approach “uses fewer units of botulinum toxin to prevent dynamic wrinkles,” says Elaine Kang, New York dermatologist, Maryland.
The best area to treat with baby botox
Woodbury, New York, eyeglass surgeon David Schlessinger, MD, said “Baby Botox” is perfect for preventing crow legs, frowned lines and drooping brows. This helps patients stop the line before they appear so that they can “enjoy decades of a more youthful appearance.”
According to Dr. Preminger, many uses of “Baby Botox” have to do with the appearance of the skin. “It can give the skin the look of an airbrush that reduces thin lines, minimizes pores and controls oil production,” she says. “It also improves mild skin relaxation, especially in areas like the jawline and neck.”
For West Palm Beach, Florida, dermatologist Kenneth Beale, Maryland’s Baby Botox is a useful tool for many areas of the face, including the forehead, lips, crow feet, and grey bea. As for how long the effect lasts, this is “very variable, but usually 12 weeks (about 3 months).”
However, regardless of the area of the face selected, “Baby Botox” injections are superficial. “In the case of microdosed botulinum toxins, injections only target skin where oil buildups are produced, breakouts occur and facial flushing occurs,” says Miami dermatologist Dr. Deborah Longwill.
