Keto flavored scones
These delicious keto scones are perfect, whether you’re on a keto diet or a low-carb diet. All the family enjoy these gluten-free cheddar scones.
This delicious scone recipe has a great texture and a great flavour. Combining two low-carb flours, coconut and almonds, with two cheese combinations, cheddar and parmesan, this makes a textured, moist but easily crunchy real cheese scone.
This is not a fat head dough recipe that uses mozzarella or cream cheese. In fact, neither of these are found in this great recipe.

Scone carbohydrates
According to the app Cronometer, which I use, traditional white powdered cheese scones have 312 calories and 45.6 grams of carbohydrates.
A low-carb scone with cheese and ham only has eight total carbohydrates, one scone or three net-G carbohydrates, but it still doesn’t spike your blood sugar levels like traditional scones.

Low carb sugar fleece corn ingredients
These delicious cheese chive scones use simple ingredients that many people following the keto or low-carb diet should have in their keto pantry.

Steps to making low-carb scones
At the bottom of this blog post you will find a printable recipe card with nutritional information. Also, my youngest son has wood nuts and peanut allergies, so many of my low carb recipes don’t have nuts.
So, every time I see almond flour, I always share in my recipe blog post that I can easily swap and cup cups in the same amount as sunflower seed flour.
In a large bowl, stir together the dried ingredients. Almond flour, coconut flour, xanthan gum, baking powder.
Scrape the cubic butter onto the dry ingredients or pulse it using a food processor.

Add wet material. Mix or pulse the food processor until eggs, almond milk, dijon and dough are formed.
The dough is a little sticky. Let the sticky dough rest for just a few minutes, then stir in the ham, cheese and chives.

Shape the dough into a round disc and place it in a large baking pot lined up on parchment.
Flatten it a bit (I used the pins slowly and gently) and shape the edges to seal any round cracks. Cut into triangles and polish the top of the scone with half of the melted butter.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes, but remove in 20 minutes.

Cover gently with tin foil and bake in the prepared baking pan for about 20 minutes. Remove the foil, brush with the remaining melted butter and cook, covering it for another 5-10 minutes until golden brown.
The baking process changes between an electric and gas oven. Electric ovens cook faster than gas, so if you use an electric oven, try to bake a little less.
These keto cheese scones are hard inside and slightly softer in the middle. While on the lined baking sheet, let it cool and harden.

Can I make these delicious scones free?
Yes, you can make this simple scone recipe nut free. Replace the almond flour with the same amount of sunflower seed flour.
Use a scoop from the bag using a measuring cup, but do not fill it in the measuring cup. Just shake off any excess on top of the cup.
Add unsweetened almond milk to heavy cream or coconut milk in keto recipes and exchange nuts for free.
Can I change the ham?
Yes, if you want to exchange your ham for something else, cooked bacon is a great option.
