How to reduce your makeup bag

How to reduce your makeup bag

It’s all in the edit…

This post contains advertising affiliate links (indicated by “*”) and gift items (indicated by “Advertising – Gifts”). You can read my full disclaimer here.

Or am I the only one who feels like it’s time to “edit”? Is it time to downsize, declutter, and really just keep the everyday stuff? Of course, that resonates with me a lot. , something I’ve been working on wardrobe-wise for the past few months, so I had some free time over the weekend and spent some time on my biggest beauty declutter yet. What’s left is something you can buy again without hesitation when you’re done with it. Everything is up to date (I hope so!) and spoiler – I won’t end up using it anyway, so I don’t have any “just in case” products. Of course, I still have more items than I can use every day. Because I like to pick and choose a few bases, lipsticks, and eyeshadows, so I pack them in my daily makeup bag* to make getting ready in the morning easier. easy. I like to rotate it every few weeks to suit my tastes, seasons, and changes in my skin. This is what I have now…

base

Lately, I’ve been hooked on tinted moisturizers. My skin isn’t that great right now, but even on days when I’m wearing “proper” makeup, I love how sheer and barely there it feels. So, what I currently reach for every day is MAC Face + Body Foundation C2*. As concealers, I currently use two. Glossier Stretch in Light 2* for under eyes is the only concealer I really like because my eyes get dry easily. The other one is ILIA True Serum Concealer 1.75*. It has a little more coverage, but it’s still very smooth and spreads easily, so I think it’s good for psoriasis spots and scars. As for my cheeks, I’m not interested in blush or highlighter at the moment. I use Makeup By Mario SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer in Light Medium* which is all in one. Seriously, what was I doing before this product? A little contouring adds warmth and softness. If I’m feeling fancy or shooting, I might add the Victoria Beckham Contour Stylus in Travertine*, which is incredibly easy to use and blends like a dream. Such a foolproof contour product.

eye

I use the Patrick Ta Brow Gel* as usual to shape my brows (but I have the new Anastasia gel* in the post right now, so I thought I’d give it a try!). Then, while I usually use liquid or cream eyeshadows, I pulled out this powder eyeshadow palette that includes (clockwise from top left) classic eyeshadows like MAC Teté a Tint*, Buckwheat*, and Anastasia. I thought I’d take a look. Beverly Hills Eyeshadow in Caramel* and MAC Uninterrupted*. Do you remember them? It’s a very similar tone to my cream eyeshadow, but it’s been a while since I decided to incorporate it into my daily rotation. As for mascara, I’m currently using Lancome Monsieur Big Waterproof Mascara*. This, too, is a blast from the past. After applying, I take a clean spoolie from the end and remove any bulk.

lips

Most days I end my day with Summer Friday Lip Butter in Pink Sugar*, but it feels like it’s been years since I’ve used another lip product, so I add in Rose in Hermès Rosy Lip Enhancer. I thought I’d take a look at it.* I put it in my bag. To be honest, it has a very similar tone to the lip butter, but with a slightly more satiny finish.

tool

I keep my tools simple. The main reason is that I hate washing brushes, so I only use 3 brushes every day. Westman Atelier Blender Brush* – Very expensive, but I’ve been using it every day since it was released in 2019 and it still looks like new. It’s worth paying for this. Beauty Pie Pro Angled Cheek Brush* – Perfect for Mario Bronzer makeup – fits snugly to your cheekbones for precise yet easy blending. And finally, use Makeup By Mario EF2 Brush*. This is what I use to apply all my eyeshadow products, regardless of formula. Oh, and the Slat Eyelash Curler* that I’ve been using for years doesn’t even come close to this.
