List it if you love it! This is my list of my favourite kitchen appliances and why they won the property.
Ironically, when I had a small kitchen I had more appliances. There was an entire section of the living room buffet and was the overflow storage of the largest kitchen appliance. As of today, I think it’s the least we’ve had in years. But what we had could not live without me.
I have a love/hate relationship with kitchen appliances. Most of them are designed to save time. However, aside from high-speed blenders and juicers, it is hard to imagine that you can’t use just full-size appliances and kitchen tools. We also know that they can be very hit or miss! I went without a microwave for a year (before I had kids), but now I couldn’t live without it. Some of you will live and die for your crockpot/instant pot/air fryer. But two of these three have been given for a long time.
This is my list of my essential favorite kitchen appliances and what I’ve told people who liked it more.
If you need a kitchen tour, check it out!
My favourite kitchen appliance
Love it and use it every day
Blender
We use Vitamix every morning to make family smoothies. It’s very important, it can sit on the countertop! This is at the top of our essentials list, as it is quite difficult to make a green smoothie without one.
Toaster oven
We use a Breville toaster oven every day to toast or bake small things like individual pizzas for magenta. I will never go back to the pop-up toaster as you can do a lot with this kind! I think this is a kind of overlapping item, as you can technically toast or bake something in a full-size oven. But it’s worth it as it heats very quickly and is more energy efficient!
microwave oven
I love the Breville microwave. Because there is a turn wheel to add time. Much faster than pressing a button! A day to fit perfectly on our kitchen island, reheat food, quickly make kids oatmeal, defrost bagels, or prepare a blue apron and prepare a ready meal Use multiple times.
Coffee maker and grinder
Breville Precision Brewer Coffee Maker – I love this coffee maker. Carafe is not glass, so it’s fine for a walk. The coffee tastes great, and the dial is very easy to program. Needless to say, we use it every day!
Thomas was on a whim and bought this Oxo Barr Coffee Grinder, which has changed his life! Not only does it fit the entire bag at once at the top, but it also grinds it to the size you need every day, just what you need. Save time. Save the confusion. Fresh coffee. Triple win!
Electric kettle
I went through the stage where the kettle was sitting in my shed. It was cute, but it was always dirty when I cooked. The electric kettle gets hot very quickly and I use tea every day.
Milk foam
Also known as: Hot Chocolate Maker. It’s winter and I regularly make hot chocolate, so I’m on my Essentials list. Perfect for heating milk in the evening, not too hot, mixing chocolate at the same time. The mine is an older model (ages 8-9?), and foaming doesn’t work as before, so you can replace this when you die.
Like that, use it, but not often
Nespresso
Every time I wake up alone here, I use a Nespresso. But certainly it’s not used as much as it needs to be. If it breaks, I don’t know if I’ll buy another one. But I really like it and occasionally pair it with milk whipped up on the afternoon coffee!
Slow Cooker
I don’t use the slow cooker every day, but it’s on the list. When I use it, I love it! I would like to use it more especially at this time of year. I used to have something very large, but what we have now is the perfect size.

CUISINART Food Processor
This is another “When you need it, you need it.” Because using it to clean the cheese is painful.
Kitchen Aid Mixer
This is mainly used to bake cookies, sometimes whip cream or make something more fancy. I’m so happy when cookie craving calls, but it’s also a beast I couldn’t do.
Stick Blender
We’ve been using a stick blender recently to make milkshakes! It is also used for puree soup.
Waffle Maker
This falls into the category “You can’t make without it” as you don’t know if you can bake waffles. There are some inexpensive ones that are used several times a year.
Listed: There was once,
Air Fryer
I had an air fryer as I had worked with the brand to develop some recipes for their instruction manual many years ago (with these air fryers avocado fries) Check out the Air Fryer Kale Tip!). But the beef on the air fryer wasn’t big enough to make the whole meal! For example, four grilled salmon filets would not suit enough space without overlapping. So I just baked them in the oven. Even the fries had to be made in rather small batches. I know people love their air fryers and I think I would have loved it more if I was living alone and had always been cooking for 1-2. I think the bottle is smaller than you think.
Instant pot
This is another polarized thing – many of you use your instant pot every day! I get it – it’s magic. We went through stages when we were making lots of instant pot eggs! Egg salad, hardened eggs. But it’s so big that he really doesn’t like “smoldering food” so you have to blame Thomas for this a bit. I handed it to my neighbor because this is a storage appliance beast.
Juicer
Once upon a time I had a flashy juicer (see this post). I enjoyed DIY juice for a while and tried out the juice pulp crackers. But when it came to it, the cost of the ingredients for the juice was often the same or even greater than the juice you can buy in the store. And if you bought them, you didn’t have to clean all the pulp! I think juicers are the most ideal for people who love gardening and can grow their own vegetables and make them into juice. Or just someone who’s obsessed with juice! That person is not me (team smoothie).
Rice cooker
Rip your early square rice cooker! This year he finally passed away to me. I love the appliances you can set up and forget, and I’ve made almost everything of our grains one, from quinoa to steel cut oatmeal (Emily @ Daily Garnish gives me I remember the day I made steel cut oats in her rice cooker for the first time!). However, these days, I have tended to make rice and oatmeal on a stove top anyway. So when the rice cooker stopped cooking, I didn’t feel the need to replace it.
What is your vehicle or diamond appliance?
Let me guess – your air fryer and instant pot!! Haha!
