Please note: AI gardening content will be carried over, we need to worry

From non-existent plants to stolen recipes, I can see the AI content every time I turn. As someone who has spent many years teaching people the love of gardening, it hurts me to see how this misleads readers and hurts the creator. Here’s what you can do to get more information about AI gardening content online:

When we ask the creators about AI, they give off the biggest moans, followed by a 10-hour speech about how everything about AI in the creative community is wrong.

Dr. Noam Chomsky recently told The New York Times:

I look at this firsthand as AI has a big impact on garden therapy and I have a big impact on me as the author. And it’s exponentially worse.

I believe that AI can never truly replace our ideas, and everything I see online is an example of that now.

Let us show you how it affects creators and what you can do to find reliable information created by the thoughts and hands of real human beings.

AI generated a houseAI generated a house
If that’s too good to be true, then it’s probably not.

All over Facebook and Instagram, I’ve seen images generated by AI where everyone is being fooled. Over 9,000 likes! Look at this photo of a purple hossa with. Certainly, it looks gorgeous and magical, but that’s because it’s not the real thing.

What I’m really worried about is the number of people who can’t pinpoint it as fake. Only plant people know that this kind of thing doesn’t actually exist.

Or check out this image you found on Facebook. Have you noticed something strange?

I can safely say that it’s not what marigold looks like, and not what lavender looks like. In fact, this whole Facebook page comes from Little Shine’s official and is nothing more than AI gardening content. It has over 209,000 followers, earning regular stocks from people and promoting the spread of misinformation.

This low-quality AI content takes over social media and sadly isn’t much done to stop it. Meta currently only has an honor system that labels content as “made with AI,” but this is definitely not done by AI pages.

This is causing a huge wave in the creator community. And it starts to question people what is real. Over the past few months I’ve been talking about it with fellow creators.

The only way you can make sure things are authentic is to like and trust you and see the information they are curating for you. Otherwise, everything becomes increasingly confused as to whether it is true or not.

In case you’re thinking that you might have someone behind you writing this… Hello! I’m Stephanie.

Google doesn’t help the cause

When I was fighting AI, my views plummeted here with garden therapy. People would find us on Google and click to read the article.

But now, Google has begun rubbing its content. When you search for something, Google will look through multiple articles and deliver the answer to the top when people are searching. So click on the website to find the answer.

Traffic will drop to about 1/5 of its previous level and based on those changes, we expect it to continue to decline.

Here is an example of Google scraping information. “From a source on the web”

But the sad thing is that people are not getting the correct information. With AI, we don’t check the facts, and everything it spits out is very common. It will find much better information when you come from someone who has actually studied as a master gardener.

My personal goal has been to always share it with you, just as we were gardeners, as if we were talking about garden fences. Therefore, you will always know that what you read in your garden treatment is 100% from real people.

That’s not the case on many websites. With AI, they can now generate more content, and those who hand-drawn all of their content can’t keep up.

ai made a copy of my book

The problem is not just social media, but content is involved everywhere. Imagine my surprise when I tripped over this book, which looks almost like Garden Alchemy…but it’s a cheap AI version.

You can read the description and see how they rewritten the description (although poorly), and added to some very random things like Ormus Gold, Survival Foods, Electroculture Gardening, and more.

I mean, um?

Everything about this is shady…

The author’s name is George Markul. Who would spell it that way? The author’s profile photo is a stock photo. I searched for reverse image and found it on Shutterstock licensed and many different websites. See more details below! The one review it has is also very suspicious. I think it was written by another AI account. The author’s profile presents a general AI writing explanation of living all other books by this author in a “overall lifestyle.” This book is published independently and is not connected to anything other than Amazon listings.

As an author, it’s incredibly discouraging to have something like this happen to your work. I poured my heart and soul into this book, spent months coming up with projects, filming them and writing them down to share them all with you. All I can do is let AI rub my book and create a much worse version of my book.

If you would like to support me as an author, please visit my book page and see all the titles.

Tips for discovering AI gardening content online

AI is becoming increasingly difficult to find. But I’ve noticed some patterns and here’s how you can identify them.

The AI photos are a little too perfect, so the photos look very smooth. But they often look a bit funky in their hands. Most AI profiles and websites use stock images. Try looking for a page that uses your photos. Always head to the website pages (and even worse if there are even worse pages). Check if this information comes from a real person or a trustworthy company… like this! I always write to the first person (from my perspective). I’ve noticed that some AI are beginning to make this sound more human, so I’ll identify if humans are actually linked to this voice. Can I contact the creator? Even many Facebook pages and websites do not have a contact page to reach the author when AI is generated. All their content is very clickable and shareable. The content is intended to be viral and viral. It always looks like a template. This comes from my friend Kris Bordessa at Atainable Sustainable. “If you share the entire recipe either in a post or in a comment, it may have been stolen.” Chris also suggests looking at the addresses listed. “When you search Google, you’re actually a dentist’s office or construction company. Or they don’t exist.” Do you see fantastic wild plants? A very cool house from this world? It’s probably AI generation or photoshoot. Reverse Image Search Search for suspicious photos. You can do this correctly with Google.

This will show you exactly what websites you use this photo. You can see that many people have licensed to use this stock image, such as as “authors” for books. You can also see that it can be approved from both Freepik and Shutterstock.

This is very useful for suspicious photos and websites. If you’re in doubt, check it out!

Together, we want to find a way to continue sharing as artists and real people in the world, saturated with AI-generated snippets. We will continue to support each other so that we don’t get our elbows held by the huge companies that are profiting from it.
