The magic, or science, behind the transformative stain is its pH-responsive formula, which works with your body’s chemistry to change from an inky color to a pink color. Including Red 27 in the formula is really the mastermind behind the transformation.
“Red 27 is determined by pH,” cosmetic chemist Nikita Wilson previously told Allure. “When it comes in contact with moisture, the solubility and pH change, causing the dye to turn a bright pink color.” The results, at least for me, lean toward rosy and sometimes even closer to berry, depending on the day, my mood, etc. The final look is always a pleasant surprise.
You can wear it alone, but we recommend wearing it with a liner. Trace around the outside of your lips with your favorite pencil, then apply one or two coats of this color-changing stain with a wide doe-foot applicator. Watch it change in real time!
