Our lips don’t have the natural oils like the rest of the skin. That’s why lip balm is extremely important.

Is Calendula good for lips?

When it comes to skincare, calendula is always the number one herb I recommend. I swear that plants have magical powers when it comes to healing and moisturizing skin.

Traditionally, calendula was used as a wound healer. Ointments, ointments and compresses were used to treat any condition that involved wounds, burns, bruising, amputations and inflammation. Accelerate organizational growth. This immediately means these cuttings and such healings.

Calendula is suitable for all skin types. It is very gentle and works well with children and children with sensitive skin. Flowers’ moisturizing properties also come from their ability to promote collagen production, an essential skin protein.

Calendula is perfect for your skin, but what about your lips? Well, your lips are the skin after all!

The skin on our lips is actually much thinner than anywhere else in our body. It also does not contain sebaceous glands and body parts that excrete oil and keep the skin moisturized. Only saliva to maintain hydration, the lips are naturally very dry and chapped.

That’s why wearing lip balm is very important. And with the extra moisturizing and soothing properties of Calendula, it will make your lips look and feel the best.

Other Calendula Balm Ingredients

Calendula may be the star of the show, but a few other ingredients also work hard to make your lips feel clean and fresh.

Grapeseed oil

A very light oil, grapeseed oil doesn’t feel very greasy on the surface, but it is quickly absorbed into the skin. This is because facial products allow you to stay hydrated without making them feel oily. It also serves as a great carrier oil for injecting calendula.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil not only makes this lip balm smell like a sunny holiday, but it’s over-humidity thanks to its large amounts of fatty acids. Coconut oil is also perfect for sun-damaged skin. So if you feel your lips are a little dry and painful after a day in the sun, this calendula lip balm might be useful!

Cocoa butter

Another great smelling ingredient, cocoa butter contains antioxidants that can moisturize the skin and absorb it into the skin. At room temperature, it is solid, but easily converted to liquids and combined with other ingredients.

Beeswax

In this recipe, beeswax helps to combine all the ingredients and make the lip balm the correct consistency. Beeswax also creates a protective layer on the skin, acting as a fumectant, attracting water to the skin. This helps keep you hydrated for longer!

Lip balm calendula harvest

If possible, growing your own calendula flowers will give you the highest quality calendula balm. When applying to your skin, you should only use organically grown calendula. Calendula grows yourself and you can meet the quality of your skincare!

The fully open flowers are perfect for harvesting. Clip the morning flowers after the dew has dried from the flowers.

Lay out the heads on the screen and dry shallow baskets. When the petals touch and feel the paper, they know they are completely dry and ready.

Store the calendula in an airtight container or start injecting immediately using the cold injection method until you are ready to use the calendula. Alternatively, you can use fresh flowers to blow heat in. Learn the difference here!

Before you begin this recipe, you’ll want to infuse calendula into grapeseed oil. If you are using fresh flowers, we recommend using the heat injection method rather than cold flowers. Here you can learn how to make herbal oils.

I’ve always injected calendula oil on my hands for many different recipes.

Do not overheat the oil. Otherwise, you will lose your healing properties.

If you are using lip balm tubes, fill each tube halfway through and allow it to cool slightly. This will set the bottom and prevent holes from forming at the top once cooled.

While they start setting, fill the balm in the rest of the way, and make it a convex curve slightly upwards. When the lip balm cools, it shrinks to form a flat top.
