10.17 Friday Favorites

Hello friends! Happy Friday! What will happen this weekend? We meet up for dinner with friends, go to a fun fall festival, and are touring high schools for Liv (how?!). For now, I’m using my Lumebox and PEMF mat to slowly start my mornings. The weather has been dreamy this week, so I’m hoping we can sneak a hike as a family. I’d love to hear what you’re up to!

It’s time for your favorite party every Friday. Here we share some of our favorite finds from the week and around the web. I love hearing about your favorites too, so give your favorites a shout out in the comments section below.

10.17 Friday Favorites

Fashion + Beauty + Random:

New York adventure! It was the best fall break trip to New York. It was P’s first time and it definitely lived up to her high expectations. She couldn’t believe how tall the building was and how much there was to do. Both kids were blown away by all of the great shopping, great views of Central Park, and great food options.

Some of the highlights:

Watch Six with your family! Liv and I saw the tour performance and loved it. Since I have already seen Disney productions, I thought this would be the perfect family Broadway show. It’s not inappropriate at all – there are some innuendos that would totally fly over young kids’ heads – and it’s short and sweet. There are no breaks, and the atmosphere is like a concert. This cast was insane. “Heart of Stone” almost made me cry while drinking white wine, and everyone loved it. P wants to see it again!

Don Antonio’s pizza. Pizzas like this always baffle me in the best way. It’s doughy, salty, flavorful, and not greasy. With treasures like this out there, why is it that 99% of gluten-free pizzas are terrible?! It’s possible to make the perfect gluten-free pizza…and all you have to do is hop on a plane.

(Always Margherita with anchovies)

Modern bread and bagels. I have been following you on Instagram for a while and have added it to my must-try list. P is also gluten-free and we are both often disappointed by gluten-free bagels and donuts. This place had both and was indescribably amazing. It tasted like the real thing! New York City is really doing it right, folks.

(I liked it so much that I went back to buy bagels the next day. I brought them home in my suitcase. The good news is, they ship them to me!!)

Natural History Museum. Liv and I went here years ago and wanted to take P. She was impressed by the exhibits and we all enjoyed walking around. It was easy to spend a few hours here and it was a great way to spend an afternoon.

Central Park. We wandered around Central Park for a few hours and found a beautiful grassy area where we could relax and the kids could run around freely. This was when I envisioned my life in New York and imagined what it would be like to hang out here on weekdays and weekends. Lee Ife.

Sculpture with friends!! I reached out to my friend Heather, who I’ve known for a long time through the blogging world, but hadn’t seen in years. I was so excited to join the Sculpt Society class at UES. The studio was great and I was able to take a class with one of my favorite TSS instructors, Matt. (I love them all!) It was so nice to get up close to Heather and meet and spend some time with my blog reader friend Sana.

Sana contacted me because she lived in New York, so I asked her if I would like to take a class. I love meeting blog reader friends in real life. People often say that reading my blog makes them feel like they know me, and that’s exactly the same thing. After all these years, I feel like I know so many people (especially my OG reader friends).

With Sana and Heather:

(She brought a package of the sweetest gluten-free treats! The girls and I had the most amazing dessert picnic on the flight home.)

As for the class, I really liked it. It passed so quickly that my inner thighs started hurting. Matt himself was very happy. I respect his energy and teaching style and am so glad I had the opportunity to take a class with him.

We also shopped, ate lots of delicious food, walked around, and just enjoyed the city. I hope it doesn’t take another 6 years until I’m back again because New York is truly a magical place 😉

(Just a quick shout-out to our beloved Amex Platinum here. For this trip, we took advantage of a $100 RESY dining credit, $200 back on hotel stays, hotel points, and free lounge access. If you decide to check it out, here’s my referral link. You can find my credit card travel tips in this post.)

It’s Olive Rose! I’ve been waiting for this day for months, shaking my empty skin tint bottle. Lightweight and buildable, it’s like skincare and makeup rolled into one. I also ordered lip butter and cheek to try it out, and my favorite shower gel is also back in stock.

Read, watch, listen:

As I’m reading this right now, it’s interesting to see how tongue posture, swallowing, breathing, etc. affect the shape and structure of the face. (Beyond the physical effects, proper breathing mechanics make a huge difference to your sleep and nervous system!)

Are you watching Dancing with the Stars? If so, who are you rooting for this season??

I can’t wait to make my favorite pumpkin chili recipe.
