Imagine being in the state fair with a swirl of cotton candy on a stick. If you barely push your lips into it and press them against the spindled sugar, you may lose the same sparkly, matte, baby pink colour in your mouth. Luckily, Dresher says this ’70s look was popular in 2025 and can be purchased in tubes. Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gross Bomb Universal Lip Laminizer from $weetmouth is a dead ringer for sweets.

If the 70s vibe is more “summer breeze” than “Saturday Night Fever,” then you need freckles on your naked skin. Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with such natural cuteness, but there are ways to fake it (or even add more to existing collections).
The Freck OG is subtle enough to tickle your nose with spots (too dark, making it appear that mascara explodes on your face). You can use brown liquid (like a large truffle like this) or gel eyeliner to get the same freckle-like effect. A harder pencil creates uniform points that don’t look natural.

If your upper rush is the album’s lead single, your low rush is an underrated B-side. We often overlook them, but they are sometimes even sexier than hits. To get lashes inspired by Ivy Getty’s 70s shale, Patinkin recommends starting with tube mascara to avoid wet, lumpy messes. “Point the applicator at an angle perpendicular to the eye and swipe the mascara back and forth, back and forth through the lower eyelash line,” she says. If you want even more dramatic spikes, Patinkin recommends using small tweezers to piece together sections of lashes into small packets of spikes.
“Caliray’s mascara is perfect for this look because you can control your application without getting a large wet chunk,” says Patinkin. “I discovered it didn’t peel off all day.” Some of us have no patience to flip B-side records (isn’t that for Spotify?) If that’s yours, a pre-spiked lash strip will save you time and effort.

There are no pairs and pairs of bell bottoms like cheeky white eyeliner. “Even a small bit can have a huge impact when placed strategically,” says makeup artist Christine Stadden. Spread the inner corners of the eyes line up and open the water line and open it, or create a white flick for a fun wink, or try a negative space liner for graphics like Janelle Monáe. “The options are endless,” says Stadden.
