According to estheticians, why wearing earrings on the bed is as bad as putting makeup on the bed?

Aesthetician Taylor Warden, who praises the broad spectrum of sunscreen virtue alongside the usual chorus of dermatologists and aesthetician this summer in New York, is one of the city’s most popular facialists.

Within a softly lit SoHo studio where minimalist decorations come across the greatest skin rejuvenation, Warden is known for her meticulous, tailor-made facials that attract beauty editors, celebrities and skin care obsessions. But while many arrive hoping to regain that elusive summer “brilliance,” Worden says there are surprisingly consistent concerns in her customers. More specifically, aged ears.

“Humans should not sleep listening with earrings,” Worden emphasizes. “Your earlobes are delicate and fragile and can tell you age. Sleeping with earrings – even small studs can put collagen and elastin in the distance of the earlobe.”

Worden’s best good skin advice (not just take them out): Apply retinol to your robe at night and SPF during the day. (She likes RX tretinoin or environmental retinol serum ($96).

The scary reality to listen (no pun intended): “When there is a piece of metal in your ear and the post hits behind your ear for the next eight hours, they start to droop and lose elasticity,” she adds. “You need to clean them frequently, not just take them out when you sleep.”

Additionally, Worden says there are hygiene factors. “If you wear earrings every day in all situations, they smell and start to accumulate dirt. They can even create dark spots, and the back of the posts will have holes behind the ears.
