August Garden Checklist: Tasks and DIY Projects

August is to prepare the garden for summer vegetables and prepare planting this year.

If you would like a seasonal overview, here is a list of glass-enclosed garden tasks each year.

Garden work in August

In southwestern Ontario, Canada, autumn weather begins, with the last fura before children return to school in August. As the days go by, the evening air (I love it) is slightly colder and the nesting season is engulfed.

Please observe and enjoy

You may not know it by the name of phenology, but you certainly know what it is. Phenology is the science of observing the first annual event in nature. When the flower buds open. When Peeper first peeps. When bees appear. When the relocation arrives. When the light bulb pops up. The list is endless.

Seasonal changes stimulate natural responses in the kingdom of plants and animals. It is interesting to note these events and compare them year by year.

I like to pay attention to my observations on my phone calendar. It’s fun to compare the changes every year from season to season.

It is important to start the seeds of your autumn vegetable garden while it is warm enough to germinate.
