Best Cube Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes

Best Cube Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes

Say goodbye to the dry or wrinkled sweet batch of sweet potatoes from the Air Fryer! This recipe provides a way to cut sweet potatoes into cubes and chase the sweet potatoes before frying. The resulting sweet potato is completely soft and moist, but crunchy and gentle brown and burnt on the edges.

The white bowl contains a thick orange air fryer sweet potato, seasoned with salt and pepper.

For a long time I have said I own an air fryer for two purposes: reheating pizza and making sweet potatoes.

This is a joke, and since then I’ve expanded my Air Fryer repertoire quite a bit. However, the sweet potatoes on the air fryer are still the mainstay of my house. (That’s the case with the rest of the pizza.)

I serve a sweet potato cubes in an air fryer with tofu scramble for breakfast. Stack into a vegan bowl. They are easy side dishes for dinner. I also like to add it to my tacos. In particular, these sweet potato tacos are spread with black beans.

Making a sweet potato cube with an air fryer may sound like a trivial process. But for me it wasn’t.

It took me a while to get the sweet potatoes from the air fryer just right. This post is about a simple percaulking step that has had great results for me.

Air Fryer Trial and Error

In the past, sweet potatoes were roasted into an air fryer, similar to how they roasted them in the oven. I put up some raw sweet potatoes, seasoned them with oil, salt and pepper, and sent an air fryer to work.

Sometimes this worked. But in many cases I ended up with a dry, wrinkled cube of sweet potatoes. Sometimes, they had a pale, starchy appearance, even if their edges turned badly brown.

The texture of these potatoes was overly fried because there is no better explanation.

What I like about sweet potatoes is the rich, sweet meat and satisfying texture. These cubes were too airy. It was as if they had lost material.

To combat this effect, I continued to coat the potatoes with more oil. I’ve only lost both of my dry and greasy sweet potatoes. It wasn’t a great combo.

I might have given up on making sweet potatoes with an air fryer, but I didn’t want to. I eat a lot of sweet potatoes and keep my air fryer on my counter fryer frequently. I wanted this recipe to work!

I had no luck and continued to mess around with time and temperature.

Finally, I added a step of cooking sweet potato cubes that were fully cooked each time: Parkacaulking.

Cooked potatoes = perfect results

Parking is the process of cooking food incompletely in a different way or before finishing cooking at another time.

Palbourg noodles can be made before making lasagna or brunch vegetables, or before adding them to the casserole. It can also be useful for simmering the fruit before baking in a pie shell.

Here, put raw sweet potatoes in the microwave for about 4-5 minutes before cubeing and stir-frying.

Technically, you can use the air fryer itself for the percoating step, but the microwave does the job faster.

I first started using a microwave that parked sweet potatoes while writing Vegan Week. The book is all about meal preparation. That is, it’s also about strict schedules and efficiency.

I wanted to present the means of oven-baking sweet potatoes with deep flavor and softness. But “low and slow” is not necessarily an option for rushing home cooks.

You can chase the sweet potatoes in the microwave before transferring them to the oven for baking.

Similarly, microwaves can help you get a head start on sweet potatoes with this recipe. It is also a cooking method that preserves moisture. When you put the microwave in, the sweet potatoes will be crispy with an air fryer without drying out.

Cooking vegetables in two ways may seem a bit nutty, especially when convenience is a priority. However, the 5 minute microwave is quickly passing by, guaranteed to have a great sweet tater every time.

Adapt the recipe to an air fryer

This method works with my air fryer and oven, so it needs to adapt properly to most types of air fryer.

That said, air fryers can have different heat, efficiency and timing, so you may need to experiment a little with this method.

I have a Phillips Air Fryer, and it’s now discontinued (this is similar), but it’s not something that looks like a toaster oven, it’s the type with a basket. It has a capacity of about 4L and this recipe is developed accordingly.

If you are working on a machine of another size, you can make it half or twice the recipe.

How to make the perfect cube air fryer sweet potato

Step 1: Choose sweet potatoes

I usually make this recipe with one large sweet potato. It’s fine to prepare with two small potatoes, but if you do that, you may need to adjust the microwave time (4 minutes with a single small potato, or about 2 small potatoes at a time 7 minutes).

Step 2: Parkook in the microwave

Stick the sweet potatoes with a fork. Place on a microwave safe plate and microwave potatoes for 5 minutes.

At this point the potatoes tender but not cooked completely. If you’re using medium or small potatoes, four minutes of e-potato will do the trick, not large potatoes.

Do you have a microwave? no problem. Include instructions on the recipe card to park the air fryer itself.

Step 3: Cube potatoes

Let the potatoes cool for 5 minutes and cut into 1 inch/2.5cm cubes. Be careful to do this – it will be hot!

Step 4: Season the potatoes

When I’m making something with an air fryer, I often use avocado oil spray. It’s convenient and easy. Therefore, you can transfer the cubes to an air fryer basket, give them a spray of oil, then season them with salt and pepper.

Alternatively, you can throw it in a bowl with a small amount of regular avocado oil, season it with salt and pepper, and transfer it to an air fryer basket.

Cooked sweet potatoes should be lightly seasoned before transferring to an air fryer and finishing cooking.

Step 5: Air Fly

Air fry the potatoes at 400°F/200°C for 8-10 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft and brown along the edges.

Shaking the basket of the air fryer in the middle of cooking will ensure that the sweet potato cubes are cooked evenly.

Stop halfway through the air fly to swing the basket well. This helps the potatoes become evenly crispy.

Step 6: Serve

You can serve sweet potatoes as they are, or sprinkle them with toasted chopped nuts or seeds.

You can also drizzle the potatoes with some dressing. I’m really partial to cashew queso, but vegan honey mustard (I sweeten mine with the date), beet ketchup and yum sauce are also good ideas.

Preparing and storing meals

A tender batch of cooked sweet potatoes is one of my favorite meal prep for the weekend. This recipe is always on your own meal plan.

Potatoes can be stored in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 5 days.

You’re like me, and the first question about food and recipes is, “Can I freeze this?” The answer is yes! You can do it for up to 8 weeks.

Thaw the potatoes in the fridge overnight. Chill it or enjoy it in a salad or bowl. Alternatively, reheat in a 350° air fryer for about 5 minutes.
