What if world peace started with the simple act of knowing ourselves?
On Friday, September 12, 2025, the University of Ibadan echoed this idea at the BetterME Forum organized by the Ibadan Peace Club of Nigeria (IBPCN) in collaboration with the World Peace Initiative Foundation (WPI) and other allied organizations.
More than 700 participants, including students, young professionals, NYSC members, community leaders, and organizational partners, gathered around the powerful theme: “Peace is personal: Building better in a broken system.”
Where inspiration and transformation meet
The day started with a great presentation by peace trainer Mr. Ortomywa. He passionately introduced the BetterME model for self-development and led a 20-minute group meditation, immersing the audience in a rare and deep silence. For many, it was their first experience with meditation and a truly formative moment.
He also introduced a 42-day personal development program created by WPI, encouraging participants to take a daily journey of self-reflection and transformation.
voice, music and truth
Through Ash Catherine’s performance, art has established itself at the Forum. Her music reminded everyone of our common humanity.
A compelling panel discussion titled “Passion, Purpose, and Pay: Finding Fulfillment Beyond a Degree” sparked a candid conversation about the challenges young people face in a rapidly changing world.
Partners such as UNICEF and the Sapphire Development Initiative (TSDI) shared testimonies and opportunities that prove it is possible to combine passion, social impact and professional success.

When youth awakens
The forum was more than just speeches. It provided a real moment of inner transformation. One participant summed it up nicely:
“The highlight for me was the session about self-image and broken systems. It gave me the words I needed in my life.”
This is the real power of the BetterME Forum. Ideas don’t just float in the air; they move people, awaken their hearts, and inspire them to take action.

alliance for peace
This event was made possible thanks to visionary partners and sponsors such as UNICEF, Generation Unlimited 9ja, Chicken Republic, IPSS (Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies), SUG, JCI, Oyo State College of Nursing, TSDI and NYSC.
What happens next?
BetterME Forum 2025 was the beginning, not the end. Every meditation, every shared word, every relationship planted the seeds of change.
The voices of 713 people gathered in Ibadan are now conveying a powerful message. Peace does not begin with institutions or grand negotiations. It begins in each person’s heart. Because fixing a broken system is already the first step to fixing it.
