Current obsession: Outsider

It’s been a great week here at Remodelista and Gardenista. My newest (sixth!) book is out! Read more here. You can find it wherever books are sold. (PS We’d love to see your copy! Take a photo in your garden (or stoop, sunny window, or fire escape) and tag @gardenista_sourcebook on Instagram.)

I hope you have a great weekend! Read about 18 things that have been grabbing our attention lately.

Above: Now Opening in Brooklyn: Dinesen Apartments by Danish Architect David Thulstrup, Photography by Erik Pecek. Get more information and make a reservation here.
New Yorker: Elizabeth Street Garden’s 5th Annual Halloween Pet Parade (and “juried costume contest”) will be held next Saturday, October 25th. Click here for details.
If you’ve always wanted to tour Sissinghurst, here’s your chance to take a virtual tour. Create Academy has just launched a new gardening series featuring head gardeners.
“Claverton Cloches have come out with a really beautiful hose reel. I have one of their hoses and it’s just beautiful. It’s very heavy, doesn’t kink, and has beautiful brass fittings,” Claire says.
And then there’s ORCA’s new goodie: a gorgeous patina copper planter. “I’m really hooked! I love ORCA’s ambitious approach to the products they offer,” Laura writes.

Today is the last day that an exhibition of ink paintings by Okinawa-based Daiichiro Shinjo and ceramic works by Wonder Valley-based Jonathan Cross will be held at Blank Space in Point Reyes Station, California. Annie, Margot, and our marketing manager Adam attended a screening of the Architectural Design Film Festival’s Harvard Five this week, about the innovative architects who brought modern design to New Canaan, CT. Two things stuck with me during my Q+A with filmmaker Devon Civivis, who grew up in a house made of glass and steel. “We were never just indoors or just outdoors,” Devon said. “It’s always been both,” and “houses were like brothers.” “Fish Eddy, New York’s favorite diner tableware retailer, has opened a new location in Dumbo, a cafe and shop complex,” Margot reports. “A cup of coffee is just $1.95.”Would you like to wake up here? Now available, courtesy of our friends at Marston House. Out: striped aprons and table linens designed by contemporary chef Flynn McGarry for Gem Home x Autumn Sonata. And I love this printed percale sheet, perfect for fall (shout out: Lola). Annie was in New York this week. Among the highlights? Stop by Toast, shop Goods for the Study, and enjoy a drink at the wood-paneled Eel Bar. The plate will not be damaged. That’s all they need. Would you like to try this home exchange site?
