Derm shares your favorite SPF combo

Now you’ve probably heard the unwavering message from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). Everyone needs sunscreen. Daily use of sunscreen plays an important role in reducing the risk of skin cancer by protecting the skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. And it’s important to remember. Skin cancer does not identify. It can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or skin tone.

The statistics are calm. According to AAD, one in five Americans is expected to develop skin cancer at some point in their lifetime. So sunscreen is not an option. That’s essential. “The SPF is above 30 and needs to be reapplied regularly,” says Jeanine B. Downie, MD, a New Jersey dermatologist. “I will reapply indoors all day.”

So, when it comes to layering, what else would you create a list of derm approvals? This is what you should reach.

Finishing finish

Dallas Dermatologist Elizabeth Bajall Hausmand, Maryland, no matter what type of SPF you apply, order is important. Even the finish. ”

Her chosen routine: “I cleanse with a gentle, moist cleanser, apply vitamin C, then apply sunscreen in the morning,” she says. “Overall, I like the thick, natural look and love on my skin to layer sunscreen. There are plenty of cosmetically elegant combinations available. I love the Eltamd UV Clear ($44) because I’ve never broken over the years. (aging) and UVB (flaming) On top of that, I like to layer sunscreen powder with a painted cane throughout the day.

Because of the daily sunscreen she works in her office, Dr. Downey says she prefers powder SPF over lotion. “I like editing my ZO SPF Daily Thin Sunscreen ($53) or Skinedica Total Defense + Repair Sunscreen ($70) with the Zo Powder Sunscreen ($49),” she says. “That’s how I reapply and reapply on my face and neck.”

Dr. Downey says she has a certain routine in her face when she runs outside, cycling, hiking and everything else runs on weekends. “I usually wear both total defense + repairs, layering ZOs and perhaps even adding Isdin Eli Fotona Actinica ($73).”

My body moves

“For my body, I like La Roche Posai’s spray sunscreen ($15),” says Dr. Downey. “And when I’m running, I reapply it. I tend to put it in the car and throw it away after it’s finished every month because I don’t want it to lose its effectiveness. Neutrogena Beach Defense ($13) and Sambum ($18) are also my body’s favorite SPF sunscreen spray.”

Glogeter

Dr. Houshmand also likes to mix and layer sunscreen to get a “shiny” look. “I’ve mixed Eltamd Skin Recovery ($67), both sunscreen and skincare. The green shade acts as a color corrector for redness, and actually calms sensitive skin.

Hydration Station

It is not SPF and does not provide skin sunscreen, but Phoenix, AZ dermatologist Dr. Karan Lal “loves” the use of hyaluronic acid serum as a base prior to SPF applications. “It’s like using primers,” he says. “Some sunscreens can be oily or thicker textures. Pre-use of HA makes it easy to apply sunscreen.”

“For me, Liquid SPF is perfect for primary applications,” says Dr. Lal. “And then, for reapplying, I love the Sungulls Sheer setting that sets up the Mist Sunscreen SPF 50 by Kopari ($34). It’s really unique. This formula makes it easy and sexy to reapply the sunscreen and set the SPF you used!”

Compact + Control

Dr. Lal also likes the Avene Compact SPF ($42) for “someone who wants a dry SPF that feels more matte and feels.” “Add to this, you can reapply it using a mineral brush to maintain its dry texture and matte look,” he says.
