Do traditional salmon patties contain gluten?
Traditional salmon pate, also known as salmon cakes or salmon croquettes, usually contain seasonings such as canned salmon, crumbs and crushed crackers, eggs, onions, parsley and lemon juice.
Our low-carb salmon pate is gluten-free and low-carb as it uses crushed pork lind or pork lind panko, eggs, cheese, salmon and seasonings.
Can I use fresh salmon instead?
Cooking times will vary as canned salmon are already cooked. You may also need to add eggs, cheese, pork rind, or almond flour to combine the salmon mixture.
You might like my salmon burger recipe, which uses fresh pink salmon.

Can I make this with crab?
I’ve tested this recipe using tuna, salmon and cooked chicken, but haven’t tested this recipe using crab meat. Before you follow this recipe, it is recommended to cook before making crab cakes.
Can I replace the pork skin?
If you’re not a fan of pork skin, you can exchange it for almond or coconut flour, but be aware that you’ll increase your carbs from the nutritional information below with a printable recipe card.

Salmon is full of healthy fats and is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that support brain health, reduce inflammation and balance hormones. This is especially important in middle-aged people. Fresh parsley adds more than just a colour. It is high in vitamin C and antioxidants, supporting immunity and reducing bloating. Lemon juice is a natural liver support ingredient that promotes digestion and adds a refreshing and attractive flavour.
