Four Sacred Gifts with Dr. Anita Sanchez - ep. 13 - The power of resilience and existence ilarion 'kuuyux' crculieff

The elders of Indigenous Ilarion “Cooye,” who share stories from his life on St. Paul’s Island, reflect the freedom, community, and resilience of Mother Earth.

This time, we have chatted about Anita and Ilarion’s chat: To build the power of the village and quietly integrate all the deep experiences, we have created a deep relationship with the natural world, learning how to exist as the core of the island, to silently integrate all the deep experiences, to silently integrate all the deep experiences, to create a deep relationship with the natural world, to learn how to exist as the core of the island, to create a deep relationship with the natural world, to learn how to exist as the core of the island, to create a deep relationship with the natural world, to feel the importance of women’s energy and the US government’s freedom and transition to traditional teaching, to quietly integrate all the deep experiences, to create a deep relationship with the natural world, to feel the deep relationship with the natural world, to be treated as slaves, by the US government, to regain freedom and transition to traditional teaching, to quietly integrate all the deep experiences of individualism, and by the way we are treated as slaves, by the way we are treated as slaves, by the way we are fully committed to the community.

“When you have something in your mind that strikes you very wonderfully, you don’t speak it. You integrate it into yourself. Voice it out of its power. The power of nature is taken first, and you can even be considered extra words or dangerous by my people.” – Ilarion ‘Kuuyux’ Mercurieff

About Kuuuuyux (ilarion) Merkelieff:

Kuuuyux (Ilarion) Merkelieff grew up in the traditional Unangan (Aleut) way on St. Paul’s Island. At age 18, he began his career in modern Western society, representing his tribe advocate and indigenous students at the University of Washington. He then headed to many committees, councils and organizations, visiting and sharing with many indigenous cultures around the world. Kuuyux is the founder of GCILL: Global Center for Dedigenous Leadership. He dropped out of his founding role, and ever since, he has lived the legacy of his traditional name and role – it is given to one person in each lifetime, that is, a career of ancient knowledge to the present day, a messenger. His current work revolves around the council of elders he co-founded to bring the messages of elders around the world to the attention of the world. Kuuyux can access (email protection) via email

“What saved us was that we went back to traditional teaching and abandoned all the Western ways, including one vote. We went to the consensus and respected each other. We realized that the process is more important than the goal.” – Ilarion ‘Kuuyux’ Mercurieff
