Four Ways to Improve Sleep to Increase Spiritual Wellness

The happiness of simplicity can be achieved through flexible thinking and sleep 9 hours each night.“~Dalai Lama

It happened again. After awake all night I wondered where I had been to the last nine hours. I remember placing my head on my pillow and feeling exhausted and finally closing my burning eyes and rejoicing. My body was sweetly settled on the mattress and thanked the universe of our heavenly bed.

Slowly, I moved away from my bliss, I prayed, and did my usual practice of releasing energy from that day and honouring my blessings. For now, my mind was still and peaceful.

I fell into the space between my dream state and my awakening. A place I know well. It’s not necessarily a bad place, but I’m totally aware of the fact that when I’m there I’m not sleeping. My brain is not REM. I tried breathing exercises and meditations just to feel ready to run a marathon. A few hours later, sleep anxiety creeped up, embracing the gift of thought and frustration.

A countdown of the time before the time comes to wake up. The list of things you need to do the next day danced in my mind like a marching band ringing horns and ringing bells. When morning came, I was not the calm I wanted. The little Buddha inside was taking a nap.

When I was a kid, I had no problems falling asleep on the bus. I’m watching TV in class. But as meI’m getting older and sleepyThe T was always accessible. In fact, as everything has progressed around the world over the past few years, sleep has become a modern luxury.

As a spiritual seeker, I will find it when I don’tSleep, itIt’s difficult to stop by for meditation. I’m even more annoyed. It’s not sharp. My intuition feels cloudy. And my ability to focus on my goals and to show my vision can be hampered.

I wondered if I would spend the rest of my life chasing my sleep to keep up with my dreams.

Then I started talking to my friends. They are struggling too. Whether the problem is falling asleep or staying asleep, almost every person I have spoken to suffer from some form of lack of sleep. Is this a natural part of aging or is it an implicit trend? Even my daughter, in her early 20s, struggles with insomnia.

These types of questions are always asking, “What is the lesson here?” But when I began searching for answers, what was even more interesting was the link between sleep and spirituality.

During sleep, the body repairs muscles, organs, and tissues. It also regulates hormones, detoxifies and boosts the immune system. Sleep also bridges the mind of the conscious and subconscious mind. This allows us to process experiences from our time, feelings that may have been born, and spiritual insights that help us create meaning in our lives. Therefore, prioritizing sleep hygiene could be an act of mental self-care that develops deeper mental insights and mental capacity for overall health.

thatAlthough sleep hygiene reveals that it is extremely important for both biological and mental processes,s examines sleep-type connections in detail.

When sleep is taken away, we don’t think clearly and therefore have little to do with our intuition that is directly linked to our imagination. Research shows that lack of sleep can have a significant impact on creativity and the ability to access problem-solving skills, so it makes sense that struggling in these areas negatively affects our mental well-being. So, what can we do to alleviate this struggle that many of us share?

Four Ways to Improve Sleep Hygiene to Increase Spiritual Wellness

Night routine

Even on weekends, wake up and set a consistent time to sleep every day. A more structured sleep routine helps regulate your circadian rhythm and provides more consistent sleep.

Sleep Reserve

Design your environment to reduce screen time, illuminate the lights an hour before bedtime, reduce noise pollution with a soothing frequency music or white noise machine, and change the thermostat to 65 degrees.

Preparation practices

Create a spiritual bedtime ritual that honors sleep and gives yourself every night. My rituals include taking a bath or shower, thankful journaling, prayer, and yoga nidras. Place your head on the pillow and spray the sheet with a blend of lavender water and essential oils before rubbing magnesium oil on the soles of your feet for the final good night. The key is to create a simple process that gives you a sense of nurturing and peace.

Track your sleep and mental habits for a month.

Every morning, I’ll write a diary in just a few words about the quality of your sleep and a nightly journal about the results of my meditation that day. By tracking how your sleep and spiritual wellness leads you to stick to best practices for good nights I’m going to sleep. Ultimately, this will benefit your mind, body and mind.

The biggest lesson I learned from this exploration is that we are not alone in search of a nourishing night sleep. We need to be considerate of ourselves on nights that we find difficult to drift into Dreamland.

If you find yourself in a sleep anxiety hole, relax yourself. You haven’t failed. Accept the moment, surrender, and trust that simply rest is enough to get through the next day.

Sleep restores a sense of peace and divinity during it, but rest is just as important. By making sleep a priority, your mind is calm, quiet, more focused during meditation, and you can feel more spiritually connected to your life’s mission every day.
