For some cold climate gardeners, it may mark the last frost of winter and warming month of the garden soil. It’s time to start growing and become creative.

I have a garden work
Spring gardening season may begin in earnest here in southwestern Ontario, Canada. The final frost of winter has fallen in the rearview mirror, and it’s time to bring winter Passover plants to lifespan outdoors, reintroducing cool crop vegetable sowing, and plan for future growth seasons. woot!

Many garden decisions depend on where you are associated with your typical last frost day, along with your current weather forecast. In the Resources section (below) you will find a link to find the average date of the last frost.

As the weather warms, clean pond debris, adjust the plants for growing seasons, and thin them if necessary. Don’t interfere with frogs and eggs! These loud voices indicate that mating season is ongoing.

It cultivates salad greenery, and other vegetables and herbs can be grown indoors all year round. As daytime and heat increase, bring the houseplant back through the window. If there are clumps of fungi, these sticky traps will catch them.

Dreams and Schemes
Do you grow more food than you can manage? Check if your local food bank, fruit sharing services, or other charity services want your surplus. Take a photo of your garden every week. Create notes of hits, misses and ideas for the future. Write down “Firsts.” First bees, butterflies, arrival travel, things that bloom every week, dragonflies, fireflies. Make note of them in a computer calendar so that you can compare the dates each year. There is a great example in this book on phenology.
