Garden scene in front of the escape in Memphis

Ghost Plant

I head to Memphis for Garden Fling, an annual meetup for “garden” people on social media! I’ve been to all FLING since it started in Austin in 2008. I’m excited to see the pop-up gardens in Memphis and meet other attendees across the US.

Before you go, take a final walk around the garden to admire the succulents that shine in the hot summer months. Grow (and spread) in steel ring containers, like “Quadricolor.” I adore those fashionable lemon lime stripes.

This little mamilaria cactus has a head blooming, with each orange flower perching on top like a lace day hat.

The orange flowers look particularly beautiful, as they are in the charcoal pan with a deep purple Oshris backdrop.

The wall of the potted Mangaves is also a happy sight. They absorbed all the rain last week and enjoyed the part-sun location. Last summer I fried some of them more in the sun (Texas! Plus Hot Mason Wall) so I hope I found a suitable place for them this year.

See you after Memphis!
