Salty notebooks are a big trend

The rise in salty aroma is not in your imagination. “We absolutely see a measurable increase in consumer interest in salty perfumes,” said Octavia Morgan, founder of Los Angeles. “This trend is supported not only by editors, but performance data and purchasing behavior. The salty agreement offers a fresh, contemporary profile that resonates deeply with today’s consumers. It’s intimate, skin-like, genderless in nature.

Looking at this trend as evolution makes even more sense given how salt combines with other trendy fragrance profiles. “While using salty flavor agreements on aromas is nothing new, there is a more subtle exploration trend in the broader olfactory category (such as butter and milky scents within the gourmet world),” explains co-founder of flower shop perfume Isaac Lecach. “The use of salt is certainly a trend.”

Perfect summer scent

Seasonally, salt can play a multifaceted role. Fall or winter aromas can be enhanced by the ability of salt to evoke gourmet foods like caramelized sugar. And in the end of spring and summer, salt will take you to the beach.

“Salted water captures the essence of the season, so it’s incredible in the summer. It’s breathing skin, the ocean air and its fun, refreshing sensation,” says Morgan. “These scents tend to be light but dimensioned, providing freshness rather than overflowal or citrus fruits. They also blend with the skin and create a soft, mineral warmth that feels personal and sensual.

Recach explains that the role of salt in aroma is similar to that of working in the kitchen. “It’s just like cooking, it’s a way to strengthen or deepen the notebooks around you,” he says. “In the context of summer fragrances, fragrances enhance the quality of the fugitives that can provide. Predict images of ocean air, warmed skin of the sun, and tropical destinations.”

Notes for pairing with salty scents

“Salt can be a wonderful combination of tropical fruits, marine agreements, and even bouquets of flowers, for the summer fragrance,” says Lecach.

Embodied by the seaside paradise, Morgan points out that salt is often pinned by notes like Driftwood and Ambergris. “But what makes them so dynamic is how they are paired,” she explains. “It is often layered with soft musk, sun warm waters like jasmine and neroli, citrus peels, and even coconut and sage. These combinations create an addictive contrast between crisp freshness and skin-like warmth, giving the salty aroma both grounded and airy.”
