Dame Helen Mirren was ready for a summer refresh. And honestly, after seeing photos of her refreshing new vixie cut, I’m ready for that too.
Mirren, who isn’t shy about changing up her hairstyle and even reveals that she sometimes cuts her own with kitchen shears, showed off her super cute and summery new look at Italy’s Taormina Film Festival. She used to have a traditional bob with bangs, but now it’s much shorter and looks perfect for those sticky, sweaty summer days. Her silver-white hair is now cut at the nape of her neck, but left long enough on one side to graze her cheekbones. She wore it parted to the side to accentuate her shape, and the soft, lightweight finish was perfect for her sunny Italian vibe.

There’s no doubt that a shorter length is her sweet spot when it comes to cuts, but she’s always challenging herself to evolve her cuts. Her free-spirited and adventurous attitude towards beauty is inspirational, but so is her attitude towards age. Last fall, she told Allure that “everything” about the 80-year-old was great. Truer words have never been spoken.
