Liquid blush, despite its weightless feel, is surprisingly pigmented, so don’t apply big old-fashioned stripes to your cheeks.
Many users feel that liquid blushes are not as reliable as cream blushes. “It’s a careful process,” Longo said. “If you don’t mix it right away, you may end up with streaks or spots.”
However, if you’re comfortable with this format, “liquid blush creates fresh, glowing, healthy-looking skin and works beautifully with both natural everyday makeup and glowing bridal looks,” says Koshurva.

If there’s one piece of advice from the pros, it’s to blend right away. Whether you use your fingers, sponge, or brush, don’t even think about dotting the other cheek before blending the first one.
“Liquid blush blends more evenly when your skin is well-hydrated,” says Longo. This is true whether you apply the color directly to your bare skin or over liquid foundation.
All the makeup artists we spoke to winced when asked about applying liquid blush over powder, but if you must, “use a dabbing motion with the sponge or brush to avoid disturbing the makeup underneath,” says Harkman.
If you’re unsure about pigmentation and want to dispel over-the-top claims, Koshurva recommends placing the product on the back of your hand before applying it to your face to get an idea of how much you need.
