Italian grinder slider

Italian grinder slider

My Italian grinder slider is a huge hit on any occasion! We love whipping these platters for fun with our neighbor friends while our kids play outside in the summer. They are easy to make big batches and packed with lots of delicious Italian Sammy flavors.

Tons of Handheld-Size Flavors: These Sammy slider sizes are perfect for serving as kids’ hands or appetizers before your main meal at a backyard barbecue.

Big Batch to Feed the Crowd: I love how you can easily assemble 12 sliders like one giant sandwich.

Super Customizable: This exact recipe features all of my favorite Italian grinder fixins, but you can make 10,000% yourself. Do you only have a variety of deli meat on hand? I made these as turkey grinders, ham grinders – you get the idea.

Star materials

Hawaiian Roll: These sliders require an entire Hawaiian Roll Dan package. Do not pull the roll apart. Instead, cut vertically into all the rolls and slice them all at once. Yes, this means assemble these grinder sliders as one giant sammy.

Deli Meat: Choose your own adventure here! It uses Türkiye, pepperoni, mortadella, salami and prosciutto. It really covers all the bases of the ultimate Italian Sammy flavor.

Sliced Cheese: I went with Pepper Jack and Pro Volone! Both melt really well and have a great flavour. When assembling the slider, place the sliced cheese as the first layer. This will allow you to easily remove the top of the bread when adding lettuce and onions.

Italian seasoned lettuce and onions: don’t skip these! It really takes the notches in the flavor department and really makes these sliders gourmet. Toss sliced onions with red wine vinegar and dried oregano, marinate for a few minutes, then toss them in finely lettuce and olive oil.

What these sliders offer

I’m a huge fan of the classic Sammy + Potato Chips combo (try these Air Fryer Sweet Tater Chips!), but I offer these grinder sliders on the sides of creamy coleslaw and sweet potato fries.

Storage

These grinder sliders are perfect right after baking.

If you want to prepare in advance, we recommend assembling the grinder along with the meat and cheese and keeping it in the fridge until ready to bake. You can also prepare Italian seasoned lettuce and onions in advance, but put them in the fridge and wait for them to gather in the grinder until they’re ready.

Deli meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles on a white plate, chewing on a small sandwich. The potato chips are visible next to the plate.

Preheat the oven to 350°C and spray into a 9×13 pan with cooking spray. Please put it aside.

Slice the Hawaiian roll vertically and leave it connected. Place the bottom on the prepared bread.

Next, layer pepper jack and pro bolaunch cheese on the bottom. Next, add the turkey, pepperoni, mortadella, salami and prosciutto. Place the top of the Hawaiian roll on top of the cheese. Brush with melted butter.

Bake the slider at 350°C for 15 minutes.

Prepare toppings while the slider is baking. Place sliced white onions, red wine vinegar and dried oregano in a large bowl. Mix and set aside. Marinate the onions for 5 minutes.

If you have time to sit onions, add finely lettuce and olive oil to the onions. Mix together. Please put it aside.

Add mayonnaise and mustard to a small bowl and mix.

Once the sliders are finished baking, remove them from the oven and transfer them to the cutting board. Gently remove the top and place it aside. On top of the slider is lettuce, sliced tomatoes and pickles. Spread mayonnaise mix over the top of the Hawaiian roll.

Place the top of the slider on top, cut and serve.

The meat and cheese combination can be addressed. I chose the more traditional Italian meat and cheese. It is recommended to bake these for a more traditional grinder sandwich.
