This is part II of our beach trip and July 4th for BHI!
Our traditional lowland boiling night
July 4th at BHI
It’s always a mad house to go to Bald Island on July 4th. The island is the busiest, but the most celebratory! The highlight is the golf cart parade. We didn’t do fourth in quite a few years, but this was a fun week!
On the 4th, we dressed up in RW&B and (lightly) decorated our cart. We parked along the stair bonnet for the parade.
There were always plenty of fun themes and some carts couldn’t really incorporate them when they were very fast! However, there were probably 100 carts in the parade, and it was a fun time. I was lucky to be in the shade!
I loved all the boats/boats/ferry carts
Up theme:
Evil theme!
Pirates!
Beach Day
Back at the beach, the kids made happy birthday cakes and American blueberry pie for America.
Good book
While they read, I ended up inheriting Sicily. That was amazing! Highly recommended. And I started this Kristen Hanna book, Summer Island. And if you like island thrillers, Hanger Island is on Amazon now!
American Lunch
Typical beach week lunch: sandwiches, chips, watermelon.
Father’s Day Lunch
I took my dad to Father’s Day lunch!
We also had a family dinner at the club later in the week. I loved this citrus fennel salad and black shrimp risotto.
On our way home we spotted this guy strolling around the pond on a golf course!
I hope he wasn’t heading towards the bird’s nest pond!
I also met Gloria, the turtle at Shoal’s Club!
A low country’s boil
At the gazebo, we enjoyed the annual lowland boiling.
Taco Night
There was tacos last night! I’ve used up all the extra beer 🙂
And ice cream!
We took another walk along the beach at dusk. so beautiful!
