Kylie Jenner’s longtime best friend and frequent collaborator Anastasia “Stasi Baby” Karanikolaou is opening up about reversing one of her most famous cosmetic surgeries, a Brazilian butt lift. The 28-year-old influencer shared details on YouTube and TikTok about the process leading up to her surgery, performed by Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ashkan Ghavami, and the emotional reasons behind her decision to quit BBL for the first time in 10 years.
“This was a mistake I made when I was young.”
In a YouTube vlog filmed before her surgery, Stassie said she had been struggling with her decision for years. “This was a decision I made at a young age, so at that age I didn’t understand the consequences of my actions,” she said. “I think I’m a completely different person at 28 than I was at 18. I’ve always said out loud that I knew I messed up. I’m so happy I finally made the decision to feel more comfortable in my own skin.”
What does a BBL reversal actually involve?
Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) Reversal is not a one-size-fits-all surgery and typically combines fat removal, redistribution, and tissue tightening to restore balance and proportion. Depending on the patient’s goals, this may include liposuction to reduce excess fat, and skin tightening techniques such as radiofrequency or fat grafting to reshape the area rather than completely flatten it.
Tighten and polish rather than remove
In a pre-surgery video blog, Dr. Ghavami explained that the purpose of the surgery was not to erase the past, but to improve proportions. “We’re basically tightening the tissue. She’s healthy and has great muscle tone, so we can do some tricks in the operating room to tighten the loose skin. Gravity always wins, so the buttocks are one of the first places to loosen up,” he said. “We’re going to do something called Quantum, which is radiofrequency tightening, and then we’re going to do fat manipulation and repositioning to increase volume and lift while reducing overall size.”
He compared approaches that reposition rather than remove fat under the eyes, allowing for a smoother, more natural contour. “We lift, tighten, shrink, we take all the tips and tricks,” he added. “She takes great care of herself and will continue to do so with photobiomodulation and red light therapy post-surgery.”
Be more yourself
After the surgery, Stassie joked that she was “eating Greek salad and recovering from BBL removal,” adding that while she “still has some left,” she just wanted to look “more proportionate to this body.”
Responding to online speculation that she was “following a trend” by reversing the steps popular in the 2010s, Stassie set the record straight on TikTok. “The reason I share my experience is because I wish someone had taught me the less glamorized side of plastic surgery when I was younger,” she said. “In fact, that’s what made me feel even more insecure and inauthentic as a human being. You shouldn’t change your body to follow a trend. Do what you feel comfortable with, not what you think you should do.”
