You are pretty sure you need to almost convince yourself that you are a work in progress. In fact, you may have just meditated. But did your eyes quickly take a quick look at the word “masterpiece” to get you to the more comfortable quote part? Together, let’s get a little uncomfortable and delve into what it means to be a masterpiece.
Take a moment to imagine mountains and prairies extending in all directions. Imagine the smell of rain coming in, a cool breeze touches your face. Feel the deep silence of this masterpiece. Now imagine the ocean or lake. Imagine the sounds of waves, gentle sprays, and water tickling between your toes. Feel the calmness of this masterpiece.
Take a closer look now and make sure this masterpiece is flawed. Caterpillar leaves with holes, smoothed on one side, but the other is a smooth rock rather than clouds of different sizes and shapes. Deep down, I know that “masterpieces” don’t mean perfection. It means something greater and more important than imperfection. That means United. That means the whole thing.
Now, with your imagination, take a step back and make sure you are not just an observer of this masterpiece. You are part of it. How do waves tickle if you don’t have toes? If your face isn’t there to feel it, how can the breeze touch? You knew you could be a little bit further away from “You are a masterpiece.” That’s because there’s more deep truth. you part A masterpiece. Masterpieces mean not perfect, they mean connections.
Imperfectly perfect You are part of a totally connected masterpiece.
You’re not because you’re confused every day, but an ongoing job. You are ongoing work as your imperfections and confusion are welcomed here. They ripple over this connected masterpiece. Yes, maybe your confusion hurts someone a little, or for a while. But maybe they talked to someone they spoke to… and they heard the lesson. Alternatively, the wounds you caused changed the bad decisions of that person’s future and prevented them from hurting anyone else. You are connected to a masterpiece, so it is also possible that someone else’s confusion has ripped into your life and changed you for the better.
Your incredible mystery is that you are an ongoing work and an integral part of a masterpiece. And it’s not the same without you.
