“The secret is that the opposite of attachment is not separation, but love. True love does not seek to own or control, so it does not separate or fear what is there. True love is the ability to exist without grasping. From this place, love offers blessings.” – Jack Cornfield

In this episode, Jack explores mindfully. Unhealthless turns entanglement into wise attachment, not choking our ideas, looking at the global prices of mass addiction and attachment, moving past our attachments to big spiritual questions. It helps to maintain a healthy curiosity about the sanctity of the Dalai Lama, and helps us lower our defenses and helps others lower our defenses around us, helping to raise our children with trust and connection rather than clinging and controlling the positive aspects of attachment. We know how we are not hidden, chasing, running away, seeking to seek to hide our imperfections, our brokenness, our hearts, and concealing our shared compassion with those who know how to be true to ourselves, and how to create a light of charm as a temptation to vulnerability from wise attachments. In their mission to support the legal services of Jack’s daughter Caroline’s Oasis, helping persecuted LGBTQ+ asylum seekers gain citizenship and security in the United States

“We want to be loved, we want to be bound, and it’s very difficult to be vulnerable. Meditation is an invitation to that vulnerability, life and openness of the mind. It’s not because it’s good for us, but because if we’re sitting and open, we discover that this universe, which we really hold, holds us.” – Jack Cornfield

This episode was recorded on August 3, 1993 at the Spirit Rock Meditation Center. It was originally published on Dharmaseed.
