With a bit of the bright light “behind the scenes” of last night’s 77th Emmy Awards, GSK’s Thrive@50+ campaign brought a powerful message to the spotlight that enveloped the vitality, beauty and resilience of actors over 50 during the gala of Emmys Gabara. With elegance and credibility, the campaign highlighted the personal journey that shaped several stars and raised awareness of the often overlooked effects of shingles on the most meaningful moments of life. We caught up with multi-emmy nominated actress and comedian Molly Shannon at the party to talk about partnerships, shows plans and why sleep goes on a big night.
Why this campaign?
“Well, I really love messaging. And now, as a woman over 50, I feel at the point of my life where I worked so hard in my career. And I feel like I’ve created this beautiful life that I enjoy and want to be here. I feel like I’m stepping into my strength. A doctor or pharmacist about the risk of shingles.”
The majority of messaging is “prosperity.” What does that word mean to you?
“I think it’s in your life and you can enjoy the moment, and of course, it includes taking care of yourself. As a busy woman and a mother, I think you can give to many people.
For Emmy: What are you most excited for?
“Yeah, I’m so excited to celebrate my peers. I have a lot of friends nominated. It’s fun to dress up and do my hair. I work with great people, so it feels like a party. The moment in my life… like today, on the red carpet, I want to show up and be the best.”
You mentioned hair and makeup, these big shows involve a lot of prep work, and you have all these people with you. What are your wellness tips?
“I think sleep is important. If you’re trying to sleep, it’s really important. I think saunas help you sleep. And I think attitude is very important, so it’s born with a positive attitude. I remember that the red carpet part of show business has nothing to do with acting.
After the red carpet, after the show, what is your post ritual?
“To be honest, it can be difficult to eat during the day because you’re so busy. Maybe you’ll go home and relax and have dinner. Take off your shoes, take off your dress, take a nice bath, wash your face, pull out the extension. You’ll forget!
