Girls’ Travel – Plus Shiny Boy!

OBX: Late Spring Version

My friend Katie’s family owns a home at the top of the outer bank in Corolla, North Carolina. You may remember that we traveled to her house in the fall. We headed home and quickly chose a warm weather date. Last weekend, we enjoyed three sunny days!

OBX 2025 Travel Summary

Thursday

I went for a picnic for Birch’s class and then drove on Thursday. We had a great time. After unpacking, we found a grocery store and had a happy hour on the beach.

Lemon Shrimp Angel Hair

For dinner, I made a lemony pasta dish with shrimp from the fish market and a lemon pesto I found at Trader Joe in Cville. We also added cherry tomatoes, green beans and plenty of parmesan.

Always ice cream!

Friday

Breakfast bagels

Beach Walk

After playing the NYT game, we went to the beach for a walk!

Beach Day

We were very grateful for having had three great beach days. It was still a little too cold to swim in the ocean, but we walked, read, and sunbathed on the beach!

I brought an umbrella, but most of the time I ended up sitting in the sun for warmth. While we were there, we also read Sean’s book, Isle of Hanger!

Beach snacks!

Dinner at Upside

We decided to cook twice and head out twice, so after the beach day we headed upside for dinner! It was too cold for the porch but we enjoyed the bar area.

Tequila Sunset

Mango salsa and coconut rice grouper

Human sunset

Cozy clothes + games

I enjoyed ice cream, board games and/or movies every night. Sean and I brought our matching BHI hoodie!

Saturday

Yogurt Bowl Breakfast + Morning Beach Walk

Beach Day 2.0

Healthy lunch

Cottage cheese + salad plus AG1!

After all the breeze had to be a little warmer, we finished our day with a hot tub soak.

Dinner in North Banks

We decided to have two dinners on the way to the trip due to weather forecast, so we went to North Banks for seafood.

Dress up time!

We waited a little, so we window-shopped and visited the bookstore.

I had the best bourbon drink called a paper crane.

And then there’s an incredible crab topped flounder!!

Ice cream buffet at home!

+We saw a simple favor on the movie!

Sunday

On our last day, Sean, Katie and I went for the morning run. It feels good to raise my heart rate!

I had a Kodiak cake for refueling!

We did lots of beaches for the rest of the day! Again, I’m happy there wasn’t raining.

We hit the Whalehead Brewery for Happy Hour on Sunday. It was a cool place where you can pour your own glass/sample.

Blackened drums + grits

For dinner, we made some blackened drums, chili cheese grits and asparagus.

Farewell breakfast

Thank you for the love that let us use their home! <3
