Playing with Pease Park: Treehouse and Dambo Troll

Playing with Pease Park: Treehouse and Dambo Troll

October 5th, 2025

Last week, when my daughter was in town, we had a morning walk at Peas Park. As always, we explored a reinforced bare treehouse perched on a live oak canopy, accessible via steel grid lamps.

The little ones ran around like excited squirrels.

We stepped into a net canopy suspended 12 feet above the ground.

We also visited Marine the Troll, one of Thomas Dumbo’s wooden pieces.

Marine has a serving bowl – we all hope that now we are filled with much needed rainwater.

Look forward to it, Marine.

The screened view of Droopy American BeautyBerry shows how good drinks even our native plants need after a very dry September. We just need to hold back and hold back, as there is no chance of real rain on the horizon.

Join the Garden Spark Talk at Gilnoony on October 9th

Austin area readers, I will invite you to my next Garden Spark event on October 9th. Artist, gardener and author Jill Noony of Bedrock Gardens talks about her acclaimed New Hampshire Garden. I can’t wait to see her photos and be inspired by the magic of her gardening. You might think that New England gardens must teach us here in Texas. Like other gardens made of passion and creativity, it teaches us to try and experiment with failure, try to fail at risk, and please the resulting beauty, humor and life stories. Please come and participate!
