Mallorca, Spain was our favorite cruise stop! A summary of our day, including a visit to Palma, Port de Solar, a swim at Port de Val de Mossa, Val de Mossa and more. Check out our Explora II Cruise post.
Mallorca, Spain
Mallorca is at the top of the list of places to return to! It was surprisingly beautiful. I’ve never been to Hawaii, but that’s how I imagine I can see Hawaii. The most perfect shades of gorgeous cliffs, lush landscapes, and navy blue. He is also famous for his famous people. Apparently Steven Spielberg’s yachts were in the area, with Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones having a home close to us.
Docked breakfast
My sister and my friend have been to Mallorca recently, so we discussed itinerary. Our port stop was Parma. This was a bigger city and I wanted to go outside the city. Eren recommended that we spend the day in the town of Valdemossa and get there via Uber, but that day was high in the 90s so we wanted to go swimming too. Also, unfortunately, there was no longest harbor day here, so I was worried about bringing the Uber back on the ship.
At the last minute, we pivot and asked my sister if she could take a day trip to her company. She was able to help us (thank you Larbs!), we had Daniel from LifeXperiences as a great tour guide for 5 hours. It’s such a gorgeous place that we’re so glad we could see and do more!
Parma
We started our day in Parma and ran to the best point to see the view.
Port de Solar
From there we headed to Port de Solar, where both Laura and Ellen were staying. I want to go back here! This is a view of the cove from the top point of the lighthouse!
Daya
We drove from Port de Solar to Deia, drove along incredible cliffs and stopped looking out at the views.
This view was absolutely breathtaking!!!
Port de Valdemossa
You can see the small town near the water – it was our lunch and swimming destination. I don’t recommend driving yourself. I felt that hairpin turns were impossible, but Daniel was a pro!
We had lunch here. There we got a marinated salmon salad. Thomas had a local talas special. Spanish wine ftw!
Swim in the cove
Daniel was kind enough to lend us some of his personal snorkeling gear and we were able to swim in cold water for about 30 minutes. It was refreshingly magical.
Valldemossa
The last stop of the day was Valde Mossa, where we explored the cobblestone streets, carrying lavender gelato, and walking through Chopin’s garden. I would definitely have spent half a day there and would like to go back!
I think Marolka will be the first European visit for the boys for all the water activities. Next time I’ll rent a boat!
We said goodbye as we left the ship at sunset.
Market meals
For dinner that night we decided to go to a market where we felt there were some of the best foods, including great salads and wood pizza. Because cheese is my favorite food.
This was our last night on the Explora II and enjoyed a drink on the Skybar deck.
