Scholarship Program: Ensuring Equal Access to Mental Health Services
Universal access to mental health care is an important goal for societies that value the well-being of their citizens. Unfortunately, many people are unable to receive the mental health care they need due to financial barriers.
The Mindfulness Research Center Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to those who need it most and makes mindfulness-based programs available to those who would otherwise not be able to participate. We believe that mindfulness-based programs are tools that can help manage stress, improve focus, and promote emotional regulation, and we want to ensure everyone has access to these important services. I am thinking of doing so.
We recently revamped our scholarship program to make it more accessible and allow more people to apply. As the cost of living has increased significantly over the past few years, we have expanded eligibility for our scholarship programs to create more scholarship slots for our personal mindfulness programs (for more information on these programs , see here).
To apply for a scholarship, you must reside in Ontario and meet one of two criteria:
A) are from an underserved population (e.g., Indigenous, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, newcomers to Ontario), and/or
B) Currently in a financially unstable situation
Qualified applicants will be notified of their participation in the program and will be added to the program of their choice or, if the program is at capacity, added to a waiting list. Scholarship recipients pay as much as possible towards the cost of the program.
If you suffer from mental health issues and would like to take part in a mindfulness-based program, but cannot afford the associated costs, our scholarship program may be able to provide you with the support you need. No.
