The screech owl has been wandering around in the new owl’s box for several weeks. My daughter told me about it while we were out, so I kept an eye out for it after we got home. I finally got to see it yesterday.
Around 6 p.m., I was rummaging through trash cans and recycling bins in my driveway when I happened to look up. Despite the fuss, it was! He just sits quietly on the porch and watches me.
When I went inside to get my camera, it remained there sleepily, staring at me with half-open eyes as I took several pictures.
I think it’s too early for nesting season for this beautiful little owl. It happens in winter. But I hope it ticks the boxes of readiness and that when the time is right, I will choose it to raise a family.
