Important ingredients worth highlighting

Cottage Cheese: Blended Cottage Cheese is the protein powerhouse for these donuts! Maple syrup: My go-to natural sweetener! It adds a rich sweetness without overwhelming the flavor of these donuts. Brown sugar also works. Almond Milk: Store-bought almond milk obviously works, but I love using homemade almond milk! It is sweetened with the date and the flavor is very good. Coconut Oil: This is a fat alternative to butter, and adds a subtle sweet coconut flavour to these donuts. All-purpose flour: I’ve never tested these doughnuts with other types of flour, so be careful if you replace them!

Essential equipment

Donut Bread: You need donut bread to make your own homemade donuts (obviously!). Most donut breads make six donuts, so you can actually make an entire batch of 12 donuts at once, as you like to hold two donuts. Piping Bag: I like to pipe donut batters into donut bread. It’s much easier and more messy than putting in a spoon. If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a ziplock bag to cut out the corners and pipe the batter.
