It’s pie season, people! This strawberry apple pie is a fun twist on classic apple pie and features delicious oatmeal crumble toppings. Is it even better? It features store-bought crust, which significantly reduces preparation time.
Fit Foodie Finds doesn’t run out of Apple recipes! Apples are rich during this time of year, as there are so many apple orchards around us in the Minneapolis area. I love coming up with delicious ways to bake with apples like this brown butter apple galette or these apple cinnamon rolls.
Today’s heavenly strawberry apple pie has a similarly delicious flavour to this crisp apple tart, but it’s baked in store-bought crust and topped with a fantastic oatmeal crumble. If you love Apple Pie and are looking for a fun twist on classic recipes (Helllllloooo, Itrabullies!), then this pie is for you!
Let’s hear it for store-bought crust! I don’t know about you, but I love using store-bought crust. The pie will be faster, easier and more clever.
OMG crumble toppings. Really the icing on the cake here – I love it that it features round oats, brown sugar and lil butter. I was able to eat this topping with a spoon.
Strawberry + apple =❤️. I’m a traditional apple pie gal, but the sweet and flavorful addition of strawberries really enhances the flavor of this pie.

Characteristics
Apple: I love using tart apple on my pie so I usually go with my grandma Smith apple. The crisp honey apples are also delicious.
Strawberries: Fresh and juicy strawberries have the best flavor. It would be even better if you could find them at your local farmers market.
Crumble topping: Hmm, crumble topping! The mine uses rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, butter and lil salt.
Pie Crust: Don’t feel fooled for not making your own skin. The store-bought crust has come a long way, and the boy, it prevents a lot of unnecessary anxiety!
Do you like homemade crust?
You do you, mom! Great if you have the time and patience of a homemade crust! I also tested this strawberry apple pie with a high protein pie crust and it worked.
This is what you need:
1.25 cups Full visual flour ½½½ brown sugar ½ tsp salt ¼ cup unsalted butter, cold ¼ cup 4% cottage cheese ¼ cup cold water
How to make my high protein pie crust:
Add flour, brown sugar, salt and butter to the food processor. Pulse together to break the butter. The cottage cheese is then added to the processor and pulsed it to combine. It looks crumblyy, but not wet. Turn on the food processor and slowly add cold water. 1 tablespoon at a time. Once the ball starts to form, you can stop. Transfer the dough to the surface of the floured work and work in a circular shape. Lightly flatten it with your hands. Then use a rolling pin to roll it into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch shaved pan. Continue with step 4 of recipe instructions.
Cover this strawberry apple pie and store in the fridge for 3-4 days. After that, it tends to get a little soaked.

Preheat the oven to 350.
Heat a large non-stick pan on high sides over medium heat. Add butter and sliced apples to the pan and cook for 5-10 minutes.
Transfer the apples to a large bowl and add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, strawberries and cornstarch to the apple. Mix gently until everything is coated with sugar and spices.
Transfer the apples and strawberries to the store-bought crust.
To make crumble toppings, add crumble ingredients to a bowl. Using a fork, cut the butter into oats and flour. Top the pie with crumble toppings.
Bake for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and cover the crust with tin foil. Return to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes.
Remove from the oven and cool on the countertop for an hour to thicken. You can also store it in the fridge overnight and serve it the next day.
I used the Granny Smith apple, and the honey crisp makes a great alternative. I also tested this recipe with a high protein pie crust crust (the ingredients below) and it worked.
