However, professionals note that investing in the right tools and products is the key to creating the most authentic look. The mermaid waves are clearly polished, so finding the right combination of products and hot tools is essential. According to Scandizzo, there are several different ways to get mermaid waves, but the best option depends on the type of hair and whether you want to use heat. “The fastest and easiest way to get mermaid waves is to use triple barrel shaking or deep shaking,” he says. These tools are made to work on a wider section, making them ideal for medium hair. While Waving Tools works well, Hawkins says it’s great for creating sexy waves that even an inch curling iron is great for undoing.
