This is a summary of Port Stop in Tunis and Wellness Days in Explorer II. Plus, there’s a flashy dinner in the anthology. Check out our Explora II Cruise post.
On the way to the cruise we stopped by Tunis, Tunisia. Having just been on four intense trips/sightseeing days in a row, I knew I would long for a rest day on the way with nothing planned. Adventurer Thomas decided to book a sightseeing tour of some of the area’s ancient ruins, so today we did our own thing! I had planned to meet him and browse the market, but when I got there I found out it was a 45 minute shuttle just to get to the market.
Tunis
Thomas’ tour departed fairly early in the morning and spent most of the day. They went to the market, followed by the UNESCO listed Medina of Tunis and the ruins of ancient Carthage. He said it would be good to experience the abandoned ins, but the market was crowded and filled with cigarettes.
Wellness Day
On my wellness day, I started with my favorite chiaphrum and fruit bowls on the market.
I spent some time walking along the truck on the boat and checking out the view from afar.
Spa Massage
My next destination was a massage at the spa! They got a promotion. There, if you booked a massage on the harbor day, you got a 30 minute mini fresial bonus, so you could do a heavenly massage/facial combo.
We also spent time in the sauna, pool and salt room!
This sauna wasn’t as interesting as the ACAC’s one with 10 girlfriends chatting with it!
I had a great lunch on the deck and also enjoyed the sparkling roses!
I parked in the pool and waited for Thomas to come back from his trip!
Anthology
For dinner we had a reservation at Fancy Restaurant: Anthology! This was offered at an extra fee ($$$) and used the Explorer Promotion for both the onboard credits my sister got from her company and the massage and an upgraded dining experience.
The lobby bar is in the middle of the boat.
The anthology was very elegant and the service was perfect. I also loved cooking! The view of the sunset was also spectacular.
We started with a small roll topped with sparkling wine, lobster bisque, mozzarella cheese and basil.
Appetizers
I wish there was all the romantic explanations. There was Sicilian shrimp and Thomas had lobster and caviar!
Salad course
We both got this salad with cream pea, arugula, asparagus, morel and Sicilian almonds. I loved creativity! Everything we had here was so creative.
Pasta course
I had the radicchi horizoto with goat cheese and 25-year-old balsamic drizzle.
Pop Rocks Tasty Cleanser
My favorite dish for the evening was this palate cleanser granita, made with lemon cello, lemon, lime crust and pop rock! Yes, candy pops up in your mouth! It was very cool.
Main course
We both ordered the Wagyu beef with Swiss chard and truffle potato cake stuffed with porcini. Did you say that each course was poured a different little wine? !
There was another palate cleanser. This time we had grapefruit sorbet, granita and grapefruit.
Dessert
Thomas had a tofu-based amaretto chocolate layer dessert, and the mine was caramel crunchy dough with vanilla cream and raspberries.
Dessert Cart
And lastly, the dessert cart! We each chose another small treat to finish the evening.
