I’d like to know what you think about this conversation about non-self. This is a podcast version of an article I wrote many years ago called “Understanding the Non-Self: Boys in the Basement, Empty Rooms, and Plagiarism.”
I was quite satisfied with the conversation. I think they both brought out some of the main points well. And they said some nice things about me. This is the record.

What’s interesting is that these are not real people. All conversations were generated by Google AI. All I did was feed the PDF of the article into it, and it created a script and outputted the audio.
In case you’re wondering, the compliments the AI says about me aren’t coming from me. It seems that information is also collected from the web.
I think some people like listening more than reading. I think some of those people might want to read the article after hearing about it. So I’m wondering if I could create some more of these dialogues and use them as a way to draw more readers into this blog.

I have very mixed feelings about AI. Some usage is just terrible and unfortunately it ends up putting people out of work. Sometimes they give inaccurate and dangerous advice. AI companies shamelessly steal content. This seems like one of the more benign uses, although I do question the carbon footprint.
