If you’ve been on the internet in the past year, you know that Taylor Swift hasn’t just violated streaming records. She broke the internet with chai sugar cookies. These cookies went viral due to their warm chai spice and cozy atmosphere, and quickly became an unofficial soundtrack snack of “too well (10 minutes).”

However, if you’re looking at vegan, gluten-free, or sugar intake, you might have thought these cookies were off limits. Good news: They aren’t. I’m filming Taylor’s recipes, transforming them, thinking about plant-based, sugar-free, and protein boosting. Now you can sing along to folktales while enjoying the perfect cookies for your wellness routine.

For cookies:

Chai Spice Blend:

1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ginger
½ tsp Allspice
¼1¼ cardamom
¼1¼ Clove pinch of black pepper

For glaze/frosting:

½ cup Shake the candy
12 TBSP OAT Milk
tsp Nutmeg Options: Extra chai spice for dust

Note: If you don’t want to make your own glaze, frost with vegan frosting!

Instructions

Combine flax diet with water to make flax eggs. I’ll save it to make it thicker. Cream it up: in a mixing bowl, beat vegan butter, oil and both sweeteners until light and fluffy. Mix the flax eggs and vanilla. Spices make it right: Place oat flour, protein powder, baking soda, salt and all the chai spices in a separate bowl. Combine: Wet the dried ingredients until wet and mix. The fabric will be softer. Chill: Refrigerate the dough for at least an hour (this will prevent it from spreading too much). Bake: Scoop onto a sheet lined with parchment, flatten slightly and bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes. Cool + GL: Cool with Nutmeg GL before drizzling. Sprinkle with extra chai spice for a bonus cosy. If you don’t want to make your own glaze, frost them with vegan frosting!
