Growing up, I was taught to pray. However, there has always been a warning that you might ask about the type of prayer you are asking, but that may not be answered the way you want it to. As a parent, I understand this caution. This is because seemingly unanswered prayers can distract the child from hope. But looking back, the attention spawned me a reluctance.
It is difficult to express our needs and even more difficult to express our needs and make requests. So the idea of starting a yoga class by setting my intentions felt uncomfortable moving forward. So I have set the general intentions of world peace for years. There is clearly no problem with sending peace to the world right now. But, after much thought, I think most of the time the intention behind my intention was evasion. Although Heartfelt, the swift intention of world peace has allowed her to avoid exploring current emotional needs and demands.
But I’m getting stronger now. Being intentional with my intentions is beginning to slow me down. Challenge me to create space for my desires and needs. What emotions do I need and want to nurture in my life now?
And once we become strong enough to prioritize and intend our emotions, even more powerful strength begins to reveal itself: manifestation. I recently said, “If we don’t use our emotions to clarify the future, our emotions will surely take over and we will do that for us.” I have intentionally shaped my future in yoga classes, just as I deliberately hold my breath in the same class. oh. I think I’m strong enough to start grabbing it now.
