When it comes to celebrity nail icons, there’s no one quite like Cynthia Erivo. Throughout the Wicked press tour, and all the way before and after, Erivo’s nails proved to be an integral part of her biggest looks, turning the nail design into a work of art and structural genius. After the premiere week of Wicked, Erivo and her artistic nails are working nonstop as they prepare to take the stage at tomorrow’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Courtesy of OPI, we were able to give you a sneak peek at her holiday set for the occasion.
Cynthia Erivo’s Thanksgiving manicure revealed
To create Erivo’s intricate nail look for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the brand says the Wicked star turned to OPI and her trusted nail technician and lifelong friend, Shea Osei. She “infused every detail with an air of whimsy and enchantment.” Several OPI shades peak throughout Erivo’s blue and green holiday manicure. Namely, the brand’s Oh, For Oz Sake ($12), I’m the Wonderfullest ($12), Fiyero’s My Mani ($12), and Rated Pea-G ($12).
“For this look, Shea and Cynthia took inspiration from texture and went for a 3D, almost sculptural effect on the nails,” the brand explains. As I looked at the page, the design began to tell its own story. It’s whimsical, enchanting, and perfectly in tune with the magic of the holiday season. To create the 3D element, Shea used a special gel and nail art brush to swirl and shape the intricate design. I added a bit of foil to some of the nails to increase dimension. And for those who know the magic of Wicked, Elphaba was the perfect muse for this production. ”
