…And why I’m adding the suede Wills jacket to my wardrobe.

I’ve been taking a hard look at my color analysis and exploring how to incorporate my “rich, deep, muted” color brief into spring in a way that’s true to me but also honors the season. Mustard yellow! Deep chocolate! And of course, a sprinkling of animal print. You’ll find it all in our latest edit. Cezanne is the perfect place for a spring refresh because while they have floaty silhouettes and floral fits, they also have a wide selection of muted colors so even those who prefer neutrals can get a little color in. So here I’ve rounded up my favorites from Cezanne’s new arrivals page and a selection of standout pieces that I recommend adding to your shopping list…

Spring Essentials
Will Jacket* – I’ve been raving about this jacket ever since I saw the two new suede colorways of this jacket online. I’ve been a fan of the original jacket in washed black denim for a long time, but the suede is what makes it so great. You can wear it buttoned up as a shirt or over a light layer. I was torn between khaki and mustard, but since I don’t have anything similar in my wardrobe, the buttercream yellow won out slightly. If you love neutrals like I do, this jacket is a great way to get used to colors. The tones are muted and rich, so it feels more like a neutral color. It also looks classic when paired with cream trousers or light-wash denim. I recommend going up a size if you want a jacket-like fit. If you want to wear it as a shirt, choose your regular size.
Mateo Trousers* – Another area that is lacking in my wardrobe is the trouser department. I don’t like anything with too much volume in the front as it feels oppressive, but sometimes it’s nice to have a more formal pair of trousers. Sézane does this genre of trousers so well; if you want a bottom option that can work for the office, a nice evening event and be worn with flip flops and an oversized jumper on the weekend, look no further. And I can’t tell you how perfectly these trousers fit (I followed the sizing advice on the website and sized down – and I was right!). I really love the formula of wearing something more casual on top, like the Will Jacket – I’m obsessed with this combination.
Ciara Trousers* – If you’re a fan of Substack, you’ve probably seen a lot of buzz about flared cropped pants, and these pants are a great option if you’re looking for one. They’re form-fitting, but the fabric has just the right amount of stretch and is thick enough to be perfect for work, and comfortable enough for work-from-home days. We love the Audrey Hepburn vibe they give with ballet flats (how about a fun look with leopard print*?) and an oversized shirt, but we can guarantee these pants are comfy, and we love looking at them.
Kyle Cardigan* – How cute!? It’s nice to have something with a slightly feminine feel in spring, especially when you don’t want to wear florals. I’ve worn it buttoned up here, but on the Cezanne site it’s worn in a more relaxed style, unbuttoned and with loose fitting trousers, and it’s just as cute. I think I could wear this well into the warmer summer months, slightly unbuttoned, with a pair of linen wide leg trousers and a Romy bag slung over my shoulder (see photo below).
Romy Basket* – This bag isn’t pictured here because I found it after I shot everything, but I’m a huge fan of the original Romy bag (the snake print in the image below) and now it comes in natural raffia?! I would love to have one. I love a structured bag with a loose, summery texture, and this bag ticks all the boxes. Don’t save it for mid-summer, wear it now with a navy trench, white jumper and jeans. The contrast between the heavy, wintery stuff and the lightweight feel of the bag creates a beautiful balance. I love a classic “summer” bag all winter long. If you’re getting tired of your heavy coat, this bag will accentuate it. So think of this bag as something you can use all year round.
