We spent a long weekend in Holden Beach, North Carolina to reunite our family. Here’s the summary!
Family reunion at Holden Beach
The Craigs are very big and fun! Thomas’ mother, Irene, has five brothers. Four Craigs, their children and grandchildren met in Holden Beach for the much-anticipated family reunion. They didn’t have it even before I joined the family in 2017. There were a few important players missing, but it was great to see everyone in real life. Large groups flew from the West Coast, others from Tennessee and Georgia. Plus us – Cville crew!
We chose Holden Beach as our central meeting zone. Because Thomas’ cousin Andrea has planned the weekend and did an amazing job connecting us at a colleague’s house. The house was very nicely decorated, well appointed, had plenty of bedrooms and a great pool.
It floats me down to the bottom right. A pure heaven floating in the pool! Am I new? Are you wearing a curved design? Swimsuits – They make the best suits! it is? Dahlia? Do I also love “Tofino Top”? It’s like a sports bra and can be mixed and matched with the bottoms you already have!
We were walking to the beach too.
Activities
Unfortunately, it was very hot with a heat index above 100. We literally had to be in the water to cool down and the water was 90 degrees!! Luckily, the house had good air conditioning. We spent a lot of time at the beach and pool.
Day and night!
I went on a beach walk every morning and had to get in the ocean and cool off immediately.
Group photos!
I was in charge and it swelled, but we all joined in!
Some members of the family are more similar than others.
I also celebrated my birthday!
Little birthday things by Irene!
dinner
There were up to 21 people so dinner had to be well adjusted. On the first night we ordered a lot of pizza (and there was more for leftovers the next day). The next night, John Don took the lead with barbecue chicken, grits, garden beans and corn. For some reason there were no photos of this event!
The next night was a taco night by Craigs on the West Coast.
Details of the next day’s lunch!
BBQ Night
Our last night was a takeaway barbecue with homemade saccotache.
Ice cream!
Breakfast + Lunch
We were alone for these meals – a typical beach favorite with sandwiches and yogurt/cereal bowls.
I hope there will be another reunion within three years.
