We live in a world full of different beliefs, perspectives, and realities. At some point, we all encounter difficult conversations at home, at work, at the grocery store, etc. While it may seem easier to avoid these discussions altogether, the cost of avoidance is often a severed relationship with the people we care about most.
So how can we engage in difficult conversations without putting our relationships at risk, especially in times of polarization? How do we stay connected when our worlds feel far apart? Is it?
I’ve spent time having difficult conversations of my own, and lo and behold, how do I get through this conversation without feeling like I’m hiding, making things worse, or giving in “for the sake of friendship?” there is.
Join us on Tuesday, November 26th on Zoom for a free and informative workshop. 6pm Pacific Time!
Please register here.
This workshop is designed to help you navigate difficult conversations with clarity, empathy, and confidence. I’ll also share a downloadable cheat sheet to help you stay prepared, avoid triggers, stay grounded, and connected to your loved ones.
Can you avoid talking to Uncle Jim?
Sure, it’s tempting to avoid the conversation altogether. After all, who wants to risk saying the wrong thing or causing an argument? But avoidance doesn’t erase the underlying tension, it only pushes it into the background and can make it worse.
Avoiding these conversations often does more harm than good, eroding trust, creating misunderstandings, and weakening connections with others. Avoid difficult topics and communicate that the relationship is not strong enough to handle honesty or vulnerability. Over time, this can lead to isolation and resentment, especially in close relationships and team dynamics.

Why do I have to do that??
In a time when polarization seems to dominate our interactions, it’s more important than ever to learn how to be able to speak confidently to others without escalating into something destructive. is important. Instead, we can learn how to calmly guide the conversation and know that despite our differences, we are all human and strive for connection and understanding.
It starts with one conversation, one bridge, and one courageous act.
