This bright dill pickle spasta salad is for all pickle lovers out there! Lots of summer vegetables, fresh dill and yogurt-based dressings, this salad brings a satisfying crunch!
What is the dill with pickles? !
Picnic season is here! This pasta salad is packed with both dill pickles and dill pickles. It’s a double dose! Pickles offer both a flavour and plenty of crunch. It brightens up with a creamy dressing made with lots of fresh summer vegetables and yogurt.
Imagine a row of cold potato salad and fruit trays on a barbecue every summer. It’s a cold salad that’s very easy to move forward and bring to picnics and potlucks all summer. If you’re like me and need pickles in your burger, this will be a great side dish for cooking!
Where is my pickle enthusiast? !
I’m Dil Pickles’ lover! So does my dad. He actually guessed how many pickles were on his 27th attempt on Mount Olive Jah in North Carolina – he won! Read my mom’s blog post about the exciting day when Dad got a pickle prize pack in the mail:) I remember when he barely bought a huge pickle at the fair. Despite being a pickle person, I am a pickle person, but I’m not sure if that would be my recent snack choice. Ha!
Do not serve bread and butter pickles. I’ve never become a fan! If I hate pickles so I don’t mind onions, you’ll want to skip this post. But if the crispy spear on the side of the sandwich plate makes your lunch, this pasta salad is for you!
Dil Pickle Pasta Salad Recipe
Dill is one of my favorite herbs!
Dill is an easy herb to grow! I’d like to plant some this year. I love to throw it into the salad. Matches in like this Chicking Rain Bowl or in a Herbie Salad Dressing like this.
material
Fusilli Pasta – Rotini also works! Choose the shape where the sauce sticks to. Baby Dill Pickles – You can also use spear, spicy pickles, or giant dill pickles. Peppers – I used orange as the colour type, but also used red, yellow and even green work. Cherry Tomato – The mix of red and yellow is beautiful! Baby Spinach – A large handful adds greenery and a great nutritional punch. Fresh dill – sprinkle and extra to decorate!
Dressing ingredients
Full Fat Greek Yogurt – In all cases, lower fats can be used, but full fat is best for flavor. Duke mayonnaise – I added a quarter cup to notch the richness. Do not use miraculous whips or fatty ones here. If you don’t like mayonnaise, you can rule it out, but know that the dressing will be thinner. Lemon juice – just squeeze it! Dill Pickle Juice – Any Pickle Flavor!! Fresh Dill – You can use dried dill in the dressing, but this recipe requires at least sprinkling with fresh dill to taste like summer.
Instructions
Cook the pasta to al dente
Cook the pasta according to the package in a large pot of cold water. Usually boiling time is 10-12 minutes. Make sure your water is very salty to season the pasta! Drain the cooked pasta and return it to the pan and let it cool.
Prepared vegetables
Chop pickles, peppers, tomatoes, spinach and dill. Add to the pasta pot.
Make a dressing
Mix the dressing ingredients in a bowl and whisk until combined.
Mix together
Pour the dressing over the pasta salad and mix everything together.
I’ll decorate it
Season and season with salt and pepper, and garlic lovers will garnish with plenty of fresh dill and a bit of garlic flour.
serve!
You can eat warm if needed, but it is recommended to chill for 1-2 hours before serving.
Tips on how to make dill pickle spasta salad
For extra nutrition, choose whole wheat or chickpea pasta
I used the classic durum pasta, but if you’re serving a healthy nutrient crowd, feel free to use the most nutritious pasta you can find!
Or maybe I’ll make it a little more classic. ))
If you bring this dish to a crowd that isn’t particularly interested in saturated fats, you can use mayonnaise to heavier the yogurt-mayonnaise ratio. Sour cream also works as a substitute for yogurt.
Ingredient ideas
You can also add diced or shredded sharp cheddar cheese for classic pasta salad ingredients. Small cubic cheese also works. You can use pepper jack or colby jack cheese instead. Fresh summer corn would be great to cut off the cob. I also think goat cheese and crumbling cheese like feta would be good.
Add protein to make it an all-in-one dish
Diced grilled chicken is an added addition to this salad and is perfect for cooking meals. Or, for vegetarian options, add beans, hardened eggs, or baked tofu.
Make a day
The vegetables are newly cut, so I recommend you eat it or make this dish the night before. If you have long stretches to wait, you can separate the ingredients and mix them together on the day. Mix everything together before serving.
Mix the pickled dill pickles – season with dill weeds/seeds. Sweet Pickles – Made with sugar or sweet vinegar. Bread and Butter Pickles – Sweet and tangy. It often contains onion and mustard seeds. Spicy Pickles – Comes with chili peppers and hot spices. Pickles of Garlic – Highly garlic; Popular in Mediterranean and Eastern European dishes.
