Hey, hey, are you okay? I hope everything is going well.
Today we have an exciting review. Having hyperpigmentation means I always hunt for treatment serum to deal with it. There are many sera with even bigger claims, and I really enjoy looking for newer serums to try.
Today we’ll be talking about Victoria Health’s 2% alpha-arbutin and 1% kodiate serum. The dose is Victoria’s own brand, and their aim is to provide solutions for various skin concerns that will result. Alpha-arbutin 2% and kodiate 1% serum are designed to fight against uneven skin tones, dark spots, age spots, and wound marks.
experience
I’ve known about Victoria Health for a long time, but do you remember when normal skincare first came to the UK? VH was one of the first retailers to stock the brand! I didn’t know they had their own range of skincare (I think the Garden of Wisdom brand was theirs too, but I’m not very sure). Anyway, while searching for a new therapeutic serum, I found the dose and was really intrigued by the ingredients at that price.
In my routine last evening, there were no stimulation issues. I also appreciated how easy it is to add to my routine. I used it with retinol and acid without any problems. It was layered well with the cream and I had no issues with the pilling.
The serum is a bright yellow gel textured serum with no noticeable scent and does not stain the skin.

Does it provide a claim?
My baseline photo was taken on September 28th, but during that date, when I started using serum on November 2nd, I was using other treatment serum for hyperpigmentation. Not there. Serum from November 2nd to December 22nd, 2024 was used

I wanted to target a stubborn pigmentation patch near the jaw in my serum, but I can say that it worked to brighten the intensity of the spots, but I couldn’t completely remove anything I could understand. Also, I felt like I generally liked my skin. I have “light” dark spots on my cheeks, but it wasn’t removed, but I probably couldn’t get rid of them completely, so I have a laser/chemical skin to remove them I feel it is necessary, far away.
verdict
I liked this serum and was delighted and surprised by my results. The stubborn patch of pigmentation brightened a little and overall my skin remained brighter. I also liked the range of skin brighteners in serum: Vit C, Alpha Arbutin, Niacinamide & Kojic acid, and glycerin and lactic acid bacteria fermentation. Hyperpigmentation is very difficult to treat, so I’m always trying to get treatment serum with a mixture of bright agents. Alpha Arbutin has never worked on my skin alone, but it seems to work in combos with other ingredients.
VH’s customer service is outstanding. I was surprised by the bright yellow colour so I sent an email to ask if my serum was oxidized. Also, there were no issues with orders and shipping
Do you recommend this serum? – yes. This is an effective hyperpigmented serum with a variety of well-known ingredients that work to brighten the skin over time. If your pigmentation is not as deep/stubborn as mine, I’m sure you’ll get better results. Needless to say, SPF is important when dealing with pigmentation issues and should be worn daily. If possible, try to avoid direct sunlight. Addressing the root cause of the problem that causes pigmentation, rather than the pigmentation itself, is the best cause. However, I understand that in some cases there are not many things that can be done. This year, I’m focusing on treating my root cause and share some of the clinic treatments I’m trying to do
Serum is available from Victoria Health for 18 pounds
