Low carb pie crust recipe
You may not win a beauty award, but the taste makes up for it in every respect. Think of it as the easiest press-in chocolate crust.
The best part? There’s no need to unfold anything. Blend simple ingredients into a food processor, press into bread and bake.
Made from sunflower seed flour instead of regular almond and coconut flour, this crust is a game changer for those living a low-nut allergy carbohydrate life. It is also versatile. Swap it with melted coconut oil or vegan butter and flax eggs for a completely dairy-free option.
Coconut flour chocolate pie crust
For years I have been trying to perfect a sugar-free chocolate crust, both low-carb and nutty. My youngest has severe tree nuts and peanut allergies, while my oldest has peanuts and soybean allergies.
Combining that with my low carb diet lifestyle, it was a challenge. Most keto pie recipes rely on almond flour, or sometimes coconut flour chocolate pie crust, but they weren’t an option for us.
Yes, I’ve made lots of coconut flour desserts, from my cream-filled vanilla coconut cupcakes to chocolate coconut mounds pie, but my youngest one doesn’t like the coconut flavour. So for years, this crust has given me anxiety!
Finally, I can confidently say this is the winner. It works with any keto pie recipe, whether it’s pudding pie, peanut butter pie, cheesecake mousse filling, or any kind of chocolate filling. You give it a name – this crust holds up beautifully (but it’s not suitable for tasty pie as it’s chocolate!).

Why do you like this chocolate pie crust?
If you’ve struggled with sweet teeth, but need to get back on track with your low carb diet, this crust will become your new best friend.
It’s not overly sweet, but it’s enough to keep your cravings down without spikes on your blood sugar levels. From sunflower seed flour to touches of sweeteners and raw cocoa powder, the simple combination of ingredients gives the rich chocolate flavor you’d expect from a traditional dessert.
What makes this the best part is that it doesn’t require any flashy techniques to make it. There is no need to roll out or chill before baking.
Mix the dry ingredients together, add the wet ingredients, press into the pan to bake the perfection of the pie crust. It is the easiest press-in chocolate crust you’ve ever tried, and has an ideal balance of bite and flakeness every time.

No matter what, the end result looks simple, but it’s a sugar-free chocolate crust that tastes luxurious.

If you are trying to make your own sunflower seed flour, know that it doesn’t work as well as the earthly varieties you can find online. Using homemade flour gives you a chewy skin.
Always start with unsalted raw sunflower seeds.
If you are not allergic, you can easily replace almond flour with sunflower flour.
