Exclusive: Necessea launches its first lip product

Since its launch in 2018, Necessea has found its way into people’s showers and vanities around the world. Focused on creating sensual experiences rather than simply following trends, the brand offers minimalist, top-of-the-line personal care. (This makes the multi-step body care routine feel somehow minimalistic). Nécessaire has mastered the body and hair categories, but the new year marks a new chapter for the brand. Introducing The Lip Balm, the brand’s first foray into lip care. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I absolutely love this formula. The official release date is January 5th, but we got early VIP access to buy it now.

“We’ve been working on our lip balm for over two years,” says co-founder Randy Christiansen. “We are deeply committed to a product-first approach, rather than a trend-first approach. This means that it takes us longer than other companies to release a final product. is driven by maximum effectiveness, and the truth is, this often takes time. I mean, the balm was an add-in to our treatment architecture, but we originally planned it further down the line for lip care, but the demand for lip care has increased so much over the past few years that our community has changed it. We started designing with that in mind.”

What’s the difference?

The importance of skin barrier creams has been a hot topic lately, and this is Nécessaire’s version for lips. “We believe lip care is skin care,” says Christiansen. “We set out to develop a barrier balm for the delicate skin of the lips. We wanted to tackle this everyday essential and create a balm that instantly soothes dry, chapped and damaged lips. ” This formula contains five essential ceramides, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, omega-6 and omega-9, and Centella asiatica extract. “They’re formulated into a proprietary complex that comes as shea butter,” Christiansen tells me. These are common ingredients found in good barrier-restoring skin care products.

The lip balms are vegan and feature pure essential mint oil rather than synthetic flavors, giving them a natural, minty, fresh flavor. The finish is a clear semi-gloss and can be worn day or night. I use this all the time, but I especially love applying it at night before bed so my lips are nourished while I sleep. I also like the stainless steel tip for cooling. This allows the silky balm to spread very smoothly. The texture, flavor, and finish have received high praise overall.

Is there a colored version?

When I asked Christiansen this question, she said, “There are no plans to add more shades at this time.” However, she “believes there are complementary services for lip treatments.” “As a first step, we want to see how the lip balm is received,” Christiansen says. “We want to make sure the quality is there and that our community tries it and then comes back. For me, success isn’t the first purchase. It’s always the second purchase. It’s our first purchase. When we see that pattern, we know we’ve earned a spot in someone’s life. That’s what we’re aiming for.” I’m excited about Necessea Lip Balm and can’t wait to see what’s coming next.
